I have had a speed read of this article and it is obviously for the wonderful Canadian souls and to entice them into vacationing in Europe.

They appear to be the 'TUI' of Canada and are either attempting to stretch the fleet ( the A310 is seriously likely to be grounded due to age and maintenance costs ) to meet or encourage demand of services.

I read elsewhere on this forum that 'Did they ever operate twice weekly ' etc...not sure but apologies if I am incorrect.

I do recall, personally, seeing CPAIR and Wardair operate ex BHX together in the summer's of my youth both being to Toronto. Both Widebody capacity ,
B747 Classic and DC-10-30 and occasionally A310.

Interesting times thus there was the market for two operations serving BHX.

Can Rouge and or Westjet help generate or support BHX demand or perhaps offer a year round service? Or do we need an Asian airline to tap into North America via BHX?

The first two flights in May and last flight in October are A310 with all the rest on an A332.

Slightly more than this year.
This year they were A310 up to the end of June, so actually a pretty significant increase for them.

YYZ now showing in the drop down timetable for summer 2018...no change from this year...

So far there has been no press release issued for summer 2018 (last year their press release was around early June) and they may make alterations as time goes on, I just don't see any reason to expect anything more for BHX :(

It also makes me chuckle with annoyance that there Facebook page goes on and on about flying to Canada from LGW/MAN/GLA and other major cities. They appear to do everything they can not to mention the word "Birmingham"as we are the only other major city.
The more and more i think about Air Transat at BHX, the more i think we must be a special case.

There was a big fall out a few years ago but lord, in business you cant afford to hold a grudge. Frustratingly though, until a competitor comes onto the scene (Westjet/ACR), BHX will have little leverage over Air Transat!

There was a rumour that Air Transat wanted to drop BHX a few years ago but as Canadian Affair can't seem to sell the seats quick enough they persuaded them to stay. That is only rumour though and only those involved will know the real truth.

Canada remains as frustrating as ever :(

Enough is enough, I think we all need to pray to the gods :angelic:

A321neoLR for Air Transat
Hope to see these in BHX!

A new entrant on BHX-Canada ? I would have thought that any new entrant would be looking at CWL.

A once highly established route with Zoom back in the day, and even though the Canada market is nothing like it once was, there is still considerable demand for such a link.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
