If a business operates upon the principal of 'Critical Mass', the loss of just one aircraft by misfortune must leave behind such a loss, thus, consequences.

If, as I suspect, aircraft are due for delivery, major maintenance such as C and D checks, an adjustment of schedules is logical and should not be interpreted as a judgment of performance or route economics.

To have Emirates upon BHX tarmac is wonderful. Let us celebrate and enjoy it!

Interesting recent interview about the appeal of the A380 and one Birmingham customer's demands to travel on it + the development of their bar area upstairs which they didn't know would catch on. Duhhh!

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=11728997

Their President Sir Tim Clark states: 'When Emirates recently had to drop a Birmingham-Dubai service for two months, one customer went "absolutely nuclear" and demanded that he was provided with a taxi to Manchester to get on one of the superjumbos, says Clark.'

I was just about to post the same thing as Thunderchild, there hasn't been a 2 month suspension of the A380, I know the morning flight is to be suspended for a month from today, but the B777 doesn't have a bar?

...alas I'm bored of hearing EK rumours, there seems to be a new one every month ...with rumour after rumour, computer errors etc. I'm holding off until an official announcement!

The thing is, frequency reductions aren't publicised by the airline. I'd keep your eyes peeled on the local media and the EK website. Personally, I'd be quite surprised if they were to can that 3rd flight as the numbers don't appear to be that low?! Unless they decide to go from 2 77Ws and an A380 to 2 A380s (with one having F class)?

Indeed ...whilst the morning light is commonly the lowest, the evening lights are almost always full and the lunchtime flights often also have decent loads! Unless it's more an issue of capacity at DXB which I believe is an issue, I would also be shocked!!!

Sorry i have no further info at the moment,it was a family party
so not much time to talk. I will see him again before xmas so i
will try to get an update..He now works for Jet2 and was spot
on with his info re the upcoming base so i think he knows whats
going on.

If it does end I wonder if they would go 2 daily A380 with a freighter...

I also wouldn't be suprised to see Qatar increase and take advantage of the mornings perhaps go daily on the AM flights..

Between the "wow" factor of the A380 and the start of Qatar's flights (some of which are morning flights), its hardly a surprise that passengers have been drawn away from the morning EK flight.

As I've said on another forum, with the A380 moving to the evening service, I don't expect the lunchtime service to be upgraded from a 773 to an A380 any time soon. It would be odd for Emirates to downgrade the lunchtime service from an A380 to a 773 for only a few months to then upgrade it to an A380 again - one would have thought they'd have just waited and then upgraded the evening flight.

Then again, if the decision to cut the morning flight was made after the decision to switch the A380 flight, we could see an announcement saying the morning flights being cut but both the other flights will be made A380's.

One final point - does anyone know how much cargo the Emirates flights are carrying? Considering the 773 can carry much more cargo than the A380 (23t vs 8t), ditching the morning flight and upgrading both the other flights to A380's would provide just 16t cargo (down from 54t now). Cutting the morning flight and leaving one A380 and one 773 would provide 31t. The final option is to upgrade both flights to A380's and lay on an additional cargo only flight.

My wife flew to China last week business class. Said the 777 going out was full and the a380 was also as busy (full) when she returned today. Interestingly, she was speaking to the Emirates driver that picks up business class customers and he also mentioned to her that they were dropping the morning flight. So that rumour is definitely doing the rounds.

Could someone just confirm for me, I'm flying out on the evening flight in late December - is this changing from the 777 to the a380?

Worth noting the cargo capacities of

The evening flight is a 777 until the new year: 31st Dec - 777, 1 Jan - A380.

Welcome to the forum Creguk. You and your wife can clearly supply very useful hands-on facts about BHX flights and will be most welcomed I'm sure. If you had wanted to travel specifically on the A380 it looks like the only option in Dec. from BHX is to transfer to the lunchtime flight!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm flying back into bham on the afternoon flight on 2nd Jan and was specifically looking forward to the a380. It's a shame it changes the day before! Just my luck.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
