Maybe a bit of a wait as routes maybe for Winter 2021/22

Not so much a rumour but a thought just had a notification from P&O that for winter 2022 so a long way down the line.They will be basing a 5,000 plus ship in Antigua so given BHX is one of the three main departure points for fly cruises for them what are the chances of flights, anyone in the know heard a whisper?

Equiates to seventeen 787 flights over two days.

Should get details of cruise programme on Wednesday when flight options usually shown.

May be something to look out for in 2023 will be Jetblue. Not expecting anything doing for Summer 2022. Hopefully the Chief Executive of a large US airline will know the difference, but many Americans confuse England and The United Kingdom. So it is possible that he may include Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff in his definition of 'English' regional markets.

And therefore we know BHX won't be in the mix, it will be the usual MAN/EDI/BFS and if the welsh government throws thousands of pounds at them, CWL too

Surprised? Totally amazed would be more appropriate! I love using BHX as it's a breeze to get through and very well connected. If JetBlue come to BHX....I do have a hat and I will be more than willing to eat it hehe....best get it in the washing machine just in case.....

Wonder if anyone will be starting Birmingham - Israel? Didn’t Monarch operate Tel Aviv and Eliat from other bases? Or perhaps BHX will finally get it’s link to the South Sandwich Islands!

Jet2 did operate MAN-Tel Aviv a few years ago. I wonder if they may be tempted? The slightly disappointing news is that BA didn't include BHX in the great Faro launch from regional airports. I do hope it was nothing to do with "no downtime" between shuttle flights as they could easily have decided to have an aircraft do LHR-FAO-BHX-FAO-LHR

I do hope it was nothing to do with "no downtime" between shuttle flights as they could easily have decided to have an aircraft do LHR-FAO-BHX-FAO-LHR

Unfortunately they couldn't do a W pattern to FAO from BHX due to duty limits. Assuming 40 minute turnarounds between each sector, to do a LHR-FAO-BHX-FAO-LHR would be just under 15 hours. The CAA limit for 4 sectors is an 11:45 duty, so the crew would run out of hours before the final sector.

For the MAN route, the crew would either fly LHR-MAN-FAO-MAN and then night stop and fly a MAN-LHR the next day, or fly MAN-FAO-MAN-LHR after having nightstnpped after a late LHR-MAN the day before.

Hope that makes sense.

Until they offer BHX something more substantial, I certainly won't be losing sleep that they have omiitted BHX from there seasonal FAO flights.

Hi there all, I think Birmingham Airport needs to keep an eye on their locost partners, because jet2, easyjet maybe there only answer for expansion, need to monitor the new route by jet2 for Iceland and see how that goes, plus the routes that easyJet have announced....AndyC

I wouldn't fly BA if they paid me! The moment they closed their base at BHX, they lost any chance of me giving my hard earned cash to them. The only way they will win me back, is if they re-establish a significant base at BHX. A few years back, I had to fly out to San Diego for work. The company sent a private taxi to pick me up and it took 3.5 hours to get to LHR from north of Cambridge. I could have been at BHX in half that time.
For now, I will choose to fly from BHX with the likes of KLM, Lufthansa and Emirates (when they re-start) etc. If I do have to fly from LHR, there are far far better airlines than BA.

It wasn't so long ago that Monarch had a daily A321 to Rome.

Wizz seem to be joining easyjet in the 'that would have been great for BHX' category.

As much as I will wish them every success I really hope that BHX aren't putting all of their eggs in the Flybe 2.0 basket.
