Is there any info on what the four Primera routes are? Must be close to releasing information about them by now, or have I just missed it xD

The worst kept secret is that they are aiming to add 3x weekly Toronto on the days that Boston doesn't operate. Obtaining permissions to fly to Canada can be a lengthier process than the USA so patience is needed. We wouldn't want anybody to announce a route before they are totally confident that it is going to operate.

Other than YYZ it's pure speculation. In that interview there was a mention of the potential for another long haul destination as well as some short haul but we're going to have to wait and see :)

Well they do have some MAX's on order but not sure when they are due to arrive, but yeah i agree.
I think not until 2019 or later, it's why they ordered the A321neo because the could get them earlier.

Hi there ray and all, great news about Primera Air, all we now waiting for are the announced Canadian routes they will start to commence from next year... AndyC

Hi there Ian, so which Canadian cities are we talking about for the routes, Toronto, Ottawa, Qebec, Edmonton, Calgary...AndyC

Was reported on airlineroute’s twitter feed last night.

Edmonton and Calgary would probably be out of range. Montreal and Quebec though are very small markets from the UK. It’s anyones guess, apart from Toronto!

Excellent news.

More than 12 hours on and YYZ-BHX is still bookable on Air Transat for 2018...so we might actually have two competing carriers on the route!

Or maybe TS are awaiting the Primera announcement, let's wait and see.

With authorisation of access in to Canada ...there’s no reason Primera can’t announce routes today, assuming everything else is in place. We will have to wait with baited breathe for this one!

Primera Air announces the opening of another North America destination from its new base in Birmingham. Toronto (YYZ) will be served three times per week on a year-round basis.

“Yet again, we are very proud to announce our new direct routes from our European bases to Canada. Toronto will be a great addition to our earlier announced New York (EWR) and Boston routes from Birmingham.

“With our brand new Airbus321NEOs airplanes, we are opening routes previously traditionally served only by wide-body aircrafts. With unmatched efficiency of these new-generation aircraft, we will be able to offer unprecedented prices to our passengers from the UK. At the same time, we are very proud to be offering a low-fare/high quality product and service concept, that will be perfect both for leisure and business travelers,”says Andri M. Ingolfsson, the President and Chairman of Primera Air.

Aircraft will provide two classes of cabin - full-service Premium and low-fare Economy, Wi-Fi and opportunity for all passengers to charge their devices on board.

Services from Canada will commence in May 2018 and will be year-round operations. Primera Air to Toronto (YYZ) will offer three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from. Tickets are available on sale and the lowest fares, starting from £149.00 (one way, all taxes included) can be booked at www.primeraair.com

Daily flights to New York and four weekly flights to Boston to Birmingham were announced earlier this summer.

William Pearson, Aviation Director at Birmingham Airport, said: “It is welcome news that Primera Air is expanding its choice of popular Transatlantic destinations from Birmingham by adding a new route of Toronto. Having only announced two routes to Boston and New York in July of this year this shows the demand that Primera Air is seeing from the Midlands.

“Demand for travel to US and Canadian destinations from the West Midlands is high and Primera Air is offering fantastic seat prices meaning it is likely Toronto will be very popular. We recommend passengers book ahead to avoid disappointment as we expect seats will sell quickly.”

Well, we knew it was coming but the TS decision has now been made very clear.

Great news for BHX, certainly a roller coaster time at the moment!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
