I must admit after reading the above article and the fact that she bothered to come to our city and region, i do feel alot more positive about this new airline. Also Primera are in partnership with the West Midlands Growth Company for 3 years which has to be a good sign and Barcelona is mentioned. I honestly thought my flight had been cancelled as it was not mentioned on a previous promotional video. Also 50 jobs created (y)

My only concern is where is the new base ??

Im feeling more positive though :)

I've read a couple more articles with comments from Anastasija Visnakova and the reoccurring theme seems to be that they are 'committed to Birmingham', have 'long term plans' and will 'add more routes'.

To me it seems like a hearts and minds campaign to get people back on side after their recent negative publicity. If so then I suppose they deserve some credit for taking note of their customers feelings and attempting to put some minds at rest.

I hope it all works out for them but I am still concerned that we only have Malaga and Barcelona on sale past October.

On the video linked below Anastasija Visnakova says 'with two transatlantic and four short haul summer destinations'. An odd statement when Palma finishes September and Barcelona starts in October?

I usually take it that any scheduled service from the end of March to the end of October (between when the clocks change) as Summer, and the remaining period as Winter!

Spring and Autumn doesn't exist in the aviation world!!!

I agree with the comments above. Fair dues to them as the PR campaign steps up. At the end of the day most people will be oblivious to what has happened. Word of mouth even in this social media world has limiting impact.

It will be great if they take the summer into winter, consolidate it's customer base and then consider next year fleet expansion and some new long haul routes and some gap filling with a new base.

But good article and an airline that we can get behind....to support them or kick them:whistle:

This looks like another "pick n mix" from Primera.

3x in December but then weekly after Christmas?
Surely there are better routes available in Winter ?

Birmingham to Reykjavik shows on the 9th and 19th of Dec and the 1st Jan, then weekly on Sundays.

Reykjavik to Birmingham shows flights on the 6th, 13th and 23rd Dec along with the 5th Jan, then weekly on a Thur.

I'm assuming that it's still in the process of being loaded as it seems a little odd to launch it late on a Friday evening and only have one way flights?

A surprise. I eat my own words as I thought it would undercut their own TATL routes. Prefer to have Icelandair back or WOW!

But how would that undercut their own flights butty. As Primera dont offer flights from KEF to the USA i actually think this is the best option. We will have KEF back which is a positive and no risk to the Primera direct TATL flights as they dont offer flights from KEF to the USA/Canada. Thats how it should work anyway. If we had either Icelandair or WOW then that would risk the Primera TATL flights in my opinion.
I need to be positive about Primera as BHX is my interest here and i want it to work for them.

I think KEF is a good route for them, hopefully it will end up being 2x weekly.

It's going to be interesting to see the final winter schedule as, up until Dec, we have Malaga and Barcelona at daily and now Reykjavik. Still no USA beyond October though.

And im flying with them in October to BCN and i cant wait. :)

Look forward to the trip report :)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
