Our ATR from Dublin this morning diverted to EDI. Quite a coach journey! Not what you want after a connection from a long haul flight.
A sign of the widespread fog!

Pain in the a*s fog but fascinating just now watching the Wizz A321 landing on Blue Sky Aviation. It emerged from low cloud maybe 15 seconds before touch down. As it dropped to 50' it was in lovely sunshine, then just as it touched down it vanished into a thick fog bank covering the airfield, but not Multiflight. The hangars were clear but the runway invisible. The fog seemed to extend North towards the Wharfe Valley but West towards Guiseley was clear, although the fog was rolling in that direction . One fantastic shot to finish of the setting sun through the fog showed several sun spots very clearly, one if which was very large.

Seems it's fog again at MAN too today with one exec diverting here.

EI3392 DUB-LBA diverting to DUB.

Another questionable day for the ATR's.
Sorry but today isn't an indication of a problem with the ATR72. Fog will impact ANY aircraft type not equipped with Cat 3 auto land at any airport, and that applies to far more than the ATR72. We all know that they are somewhat limited in strong crosswinds, but your regular complaints about the type isn't going to do any good as they are what we've got, so perhaps time to give it a rest?

Emerald aren't going to go out and buy nice jets with Cat3 just so they can land in fog ,or cross winds, given operating such types would render half their routes economically non-viable.

I agree its not just ATR's but as everything else is landing it just highlights the disparity.

At least our 737's seem to be coping. I am just tracking the Alicante-Teesside flight which seems to be diverting to Dublin!

Felt long as could see runway lights from window and dare we say the lba forever float but hard on brakes and reverse and a long slow run into the loop. All 👍

So how did the approach feel assuming you did an auto land?
Yes did autoland all told turn phones off not just airplane mode before descent. And a member of cabin crew went down plane to reiterate the message! Still idiot behind left phone on as heard message blip.
Would love to know what goes through these folks heads. Ignorance or let's see if we crash! World is full of dick heads

The wizz a321 on blue sky live earlier today seemed to float and land a little late!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
