KLM/German Airways EMB.190 D-APRI and Emerald ATR-72 EI-HNA have both diverted into LBA this morning duefog at Newcastle. BA Heathrowwentto Newcastle, however there is and Air France/Hop E.190 holding near Teesside(Fingers crossed)))

Ryanair flight from ALC to NCL is in the hold at 27000' just to the North of LBA. Whether it will come to Leeds or not being so high, and whether we have the capacity is another matter. LBAs inbound from Bucharest is delayed and due at 0012 so it appears we will be open until then.

Odd the Eastern/KLM Teesside diverted to MAN, not LBA, yet the KLM 738 came here.

Update: Ryanair from ALC heading in the direction of LPL.

What is it about not diverting to LBA?
I assumed we had no room but then the KLM 737 diverted in, so we must have had the space after all.

LBA is much closer to MME and NCL than the other airports that took diversions so its all very strange.

Not all. One Jet2 to LPL, Air France Hop to EDI, BA back to LHR . It's disappointing that no Jet2s diverted to LBA earlier.
And one Easyjet diverted back to BRS.

The KLM 737 didn't night stop as it would have at NCL. It positioned back to AMS, thereby vacating a stand.

I guess that the main issues around diverting to LBA at present are stand capacity (having to keep stands available for our inbound based aircraft), and the ability of Swissport and Jet2 Handling to deal with the aircraft. Then of course they have to be able to source onward coach transport from somewhere at short notice.

The fog at NCL cleared around midnight to around 225m *(previously 100m) sufficiently to allow the Jet2 flight ftom Palma, which had been holding over Durham for 30 minutes, to do an auto land.

i am not sure that makes any sense then - if they were only restricted on not being able to do cat3, and the weather was nowhere near that, then why divert? i think there is some information missing from this one

According to flightradar24 it was showing as visibility of 700 metres, granted that was slightly later when I looked. Not sure if this would be a restricted landing?
That's over half a mile! Should be fine. Maybe insufficient fuel to risk a go around and divert had the weather/visibility deteriorated?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
