A summary of all abnormal events yesterday, hopefully leading to the conclusion as to what happened: B738 G-DRTJ was out of commission yesterday, doing a test flight in the middle of the day as EXS050B. LS209 to Heraklion was being covered by B733 G-GDFM in place of the standard B738. B738 G-JZBZ arrived an hour late from Malta and parked on stand 20A. G-GDFG spent some time on stand 16L before being towed to either stand 22A or 22B (my memory beats me on which one), so possibly tech

My thoughts are: G-GDFT should have operated the LS495 to Palma which G-HLYF ended up covering, but instead operated LS263 to Ibiza, presumably in place of G-GDFM which was covering Heraklion, which I assume they wanted G-DRTJ to operate and to relieve G-JZBZ of her duties halfway through the day (this sort of thing happens more often than one may think). I assume ordinarily they'd get the spare B733 G-GDFG to operate the LS495, but, as I've said, I think she may have been tech, hence G-HLYF positioning over

Of course, this is all complete guesswork, and I am prepared to be corrected

Some absolutely horrendous delays today, presumably due to ATC restrictions over Europe. The average delay for departures between 14:00 and 17:00 was 1h10, with LS283 to Chania departing 2h38 late after holding at N4 for over 2 hours! I am aware this is routine at this stage of summer but 10 of 17 departures being over an hour delayed in this timeframe is quite something

general weather capacity across mainland europe, but a few airports have had their own specific issues. chania in particular seems to have regulations everyday atm. looking today it down in the list again

Yes, it does. In the past we have had flights consolidated into MAN when there were more booked on the LBA flight than the MAN flight. Not saying that's the case here but if the Leeds pax were accommodated on the MAN flight and it was an ATR72, on a Saturday in July, then it isn't great for either LBA, or MAN.

Well I would know the load, but they'd already cancelled the LBA flights by the time I attempted to check. Saturday outbounds seem to be getting around 45 (though a couple of weeks ago was full), inbounds vary from around 40-70. Something tells me Aurigny are in full money-saving mode

Yes I think the BA competition on London has probably put some dent in profits. Geopolitics, oil prices and general consolidation are not helping at all at the moment. Plus I don't think AUR are hugely profitable anyway. We were discussing this at Multi flight cafe this afternoon and we're becoming fearful for the route

In other news, yesterday's Wizz flight to Cluj went tech so A321 9H-WZC overnighted at LBA. It must be really broken as they're positioning A321NEO 9H-WMM from Catania, eta 19:56, to operate the flight with a 24 hour delay
