I agree. The country has been bled dry by greed and infrastructure has gone to the dogs. Everywhere else is getting decent motorway connections, metro systems and so on and here in the UK we're getting what .... bloody more cycle lanes. I'm not totally against them in principle as part of wider transport improvements including roads but not on thier own as we're seeing.we are decades behind most other western countries now when it comes to transport infrastructure.
This is why I’m thinking maybe LBA should re lodge the planning application again and push it through and sit on it like they did with the current extension
Totally agree - the biggest issue not just in terms of connectivity to the airport is the state of the transport network especially to the west of Leeds and to the east of Bradford. Most of the roads are gridlocked not just at peak times - it urgently needs sorting!I agree. The country has been bled dry by greed and infrastructure has gone to the dogs. You might be onto something there. Build some basic foundations so it can't be later withdrawn.
well given the chancellor has now declared she is now publicly backing the reopening of DSA as one of her key pillars of growth perhaps it is time to submit an application. One may become soon anyway depending on the how the public enquiry goes….It would be interesting to see how the government would react particularly if it ended up at ministerial level for approval.I agree. Good - I’ve a copy of the letter which I posted on a number of media X platforms over the last few days….Interestingly even though his constituency is miles away Kevin Hollingrake has been a supporter of LBA even tabling commons questions on LBALooks like GB News has got on the bandwagon as Racheal Reeves accused of Hypocrisy.

Reeves accused of hypocrisy over Heathrow's third runway after previous interventions unearthed
In her 2020 objection to the Leeds Bradford Airport expansion, Reeves emphasised local environmental commitmentswww.gbnews.com
At the time the local MP with the most influence in government was Stuart Andrew as a government whip and then a minister in Gove’s department yet he chose to sit on the fence.Jenrick is the real culprit in the new terminal debacle. He had it in his power to allow the planning permission to go ahead but just sat on the case. His successor Gove was almost as bad because once again the issue was ducked by him by announcing a Public Inquiry. Yes Reeves is a hypocrite but she was in opposition at the time of the application with no power to decide the issue. Jenrick and Gove both had control of the levers of power but both just kicked the issue into the long grass for someone else to sort out. Little wonder the country is going to the dogs with the politicians we have. Not an ounce of flair, courage or conviction between them just lots of ideological hot air whilst the likes of LBA who want to generate growth, jobs and income just meet with the lack lustre brick wall of political cowardice and mediocrity.
I thought there were still question marks around the 5m cap - has it definitely been confirmed with LCC that there isn’t…..it gets talk about so much I lost the thread where we got to on it!!Fairly sure LBA will be wary of the Council using the opportunity presented by a planning application, to introduce Section 106 restrictions which will create problems, such as a passenger cap. Given the current development, such a move would be disastrous as any cap introduced could effectively make growth impossible. Having invested/committed to what they have, LBA need the status quo to be maintained and to reach that 7m per year target before worrying about a new terminal and opening the door for punitive restrictions to be introduced.
LBA are confident they are clear to grow to 7m pax per year without the need to submit a planning application, but they told me that there was a conversation to be had with the Council planning department, which to me, sounds slightly concerning.I thought there were still question marks around the 5m cap - has it definitely been confirmed with LCC that there isn’t…..it gets talk about so much I lost the thread where we got to on it!!
I take your point but by the time 7 million is reached this rare window of opportunity of a Government supporting airport growth will no doubt have closed. Catch 22 springs to mind.Fairly sure LBA will be wary of the Council using the opportunity presented by a planning application, to introduce Section 106 restrictions which will create problems, such as a passenger cap. Well, maybe they will. Maybe they will wait. The Council would know that the airport have no intention of building a new terminal before 2030 so not sure how they would deal with that. Putting in a planning application for a project still at least 5 years away isn't usual!I take your point but by the time 7 million is reached this rare window of opportunity of a Government supporting airport growth will no doubt have closed. The guys is an idiot and to think I went to school with him and his brother at Newlaithes and Benton Park!https://travelweekly.co.uk/news/air...rbon-budgets-climate-change-secretary-insists
And here you have it. A labour government wiling to do what successive governments have failed to do and then there is this deranged moron trying to take the UK economy and society back to the Stone Age.
Carbon budget is just BS crap, made up, to allow idiots like this moron to usher in climate Marxism. Allowing "them" to worship at the climate change church.
I hope the cabinet stick two fingers up at him tbf. The UK economy need LHR/LGW and LTN to expand, they also need to look at other regional airports.
I didn't know he went to Benton Park, and what a hell hole that place is, even after it's been rebuilt! The guys is an idiot and to think I went to school with him and his brother at Newlaithes and Benton Park!
Thats my old school your talking about! Haha although when i was there in the 90s it was decent back then. Also i must admit i think the old building looked better than that new brick eyesore of a build! Feel sorry for those living on harrogate rd that have to look at it everydayI didn't know he went to Benton Park, and what a hell hole that place is, even after it's been rebuilt!
