Perhaps Jenrick was thinking back to his time as a student in Leeds when, no doubt, he was indoctrinated with anti LBA propaganda. So rather than sign off an already approved planning application (but one approved by one of those nasty Labour Councils), he just 'lost it' instead in the darkest depths of his in-tray.

Reeves is, undoubtedly a hypocrite although in the event of an LBA planning application in the future, she will only confirm that fact if she dares to object again after approving huge growth at the London Airports. She has, effectively, painted herself into a corner, and made things more difficult for the other 4 Leeds Labour MPs too. Would they now oppose LBA and their own Government Policy? I'm sure our useless MP for Headingley and Kirkstall is less than happy.

As for Badenoch, I wouldn't dare say what I think of her on here.
Speaking of Jenrick it’s getting bit heated on X
His reply to a challenge by ex Labour MP Jonathan Ashworth
“The reason for the ‘delay’ was I had to consider the request to “call in” made by your former Labour colleagues who were literally begging me to scrap it.

Reeves wanted me to block the development - and all the well-paying local jobs that came with it - because of absurd environmental concerns.

I never did - I supported the project.

As for you, well you opposed planning reforms to get new homes built. Like the Prime Minister and Chancellor, you don’t have a scintilla of credibility on this issue”

Rachel Reeves just stated that there hadn't been a new runway built in the UK since the 40s! Clueless.
Manchester 2nd runway?
And, Leeds Bradfords runway built in the 60s, opened 1965. Probably others too.
how on earth could she forget Manchester 2nd runway - doesn’t she remember Swampy! 🤣 Guess she was too busy pretending to be that top economist at the BofE in 2001….

He was the Minister. A Tory Minister. Reeves and her buddies were Labour as was the Council that signed off the approval. He should have told them to shut up and do one, and approve it. He could've done that very quickly. Since when does a Tory Minister pander to 5 backward thinking Labour MPs?

The ludicrous thing was that the project did not involve growth in aviation beyond that already approved and now enabled by the ongoing project to expand and refurbish the terminal. It was purely a new terminal and some relatively minor changes to the defined operating hours. The objections by the Labour MPs were pure garbage. Jenrick knew that but not only did he not call it in, he didn't do ANYTHING! And then Gove took over and did call it in, but by then we had been waiting a year for a routine sign off that should have been completed within 6 weeks.

To see Reeves today wittering on about aviation being more sustainable and airports should expand made my blood boil. She should apologise openly and admit she was wrong to oppose our new terminal.

Just seen this on BBC News website:

Reeves was questioned over her previous opposition to the expansion of Leeds-Bradford airport over air and noise pollution grounds.

"If Leeds-Bradford came back with plans to expand I would support these because I think things have changed significantly in the past few years," she said.

She is a total hypocrite
I had her at my door twice last year in the run up to the council elections (Armley ward) and she could not answer any of my questions, just got the typical waffle and she even started walking away and I said excuse me I am talking to you it’s rude to walk away

Might be a good time for the airport to change the night quota conditions.

She’s so full of …. It hurts. I honestly pity anyone in herd ward that voted for this woman.

However. I still maintain now is the time to resubmit those plans while the iron is hot.

If they tried to put a passenger cap in there as has been suggested might happen they can still just pull them themselves.

Nothing ventured nothing gained

What an absolute shape shifter. What did the pandemic have to do with an airport planning infrastructure for its future, erm answer nothing. People weren’t flying she said, but anyone with an iota of common sense knew there was pent up demand, and that air travel would rebound. What I did like was that she looked uncomfortable. She’s a hypocrite and she has been called out. I sincerely hope VH resubmits plans and asks her to rubber stamp them, without bureaucracy like she claims things will be. Time for her to put more than words into action.
As an aside, what is it with the Labour cabinet, they are either very nasal socialist, pretender Londoners, or extremely rough- neither of which is endearing or gives me confidence.

Although Reeves is clearly two faced and had clearly forgot about when she'd objected towards the LBA terminal development, we mustn't lose sight of why these questions are being asked. The objectors to aviation expansion don't want to see any expansion, not just at LBA but from any airport. LBA should use the new national aviation policy to its advantage and get a planning application in as soon as possible. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
#LBAexpansionNOW

I think that LBA have committed the money to the extension and revamp of the present Terminal, they won't have the money for a brand new one.
You're right but they can apply for one. They can even do some preparation work following the approval so the project can't be stopped at a later date. It would future proof the airport making it a more valuable asset.

But they are ‘venturing’ down a different route with an appeal hearing scheduled in just a few weeks. Why, having invested all the time and cost of this CLUED process, would they change course now?

Will the CLUED appeal mysteriously be granted to satisfy the airport after the latest debacle? If the government aren't embarrassed now, they will be after the CLUED appeal if the airport loses.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
