Unfortunately there is very little LBA aviation to discuss at present.
Seriously! There ia plenty of stuff to talk about LBA wise, the airports undergoing a 100million pound transformation! Reg the original plans for a new breem shiny new eco terminal aint it just typical yet again that LBA has missed out, bad timing, if the plans had been put forwards now I'm sure things would of been different.
Saying that so far im pretty impressed with LBAs regen plans, the terminal extension is much larger than i expected and if future plans were to extend the short pier to create a good full length one, together with a reconfigured existing terminal the future looks good.

They need to get on with the pier extension asap, the bus shelter and portacabin gate are a disgraceful embarrassment

One other thing mentioned this week was the government was going to do away with NIMBYism so that's GALBA shut up from now onward.

The only real way forward to move away from that is to make planning permission solely independent from council / politics etc. Sadly I think corruption would likely set in then.

It’s really hilarious that we could have had a brand new spanking terminal opening in spring 😂 instead we’ve got the 1950’s terminal with all its extensions.

1960s terminal....the one there in the 50s burned down if you recall.
It seems to me that the current planning system has already brought about corruption. Weren't some planning officers suspended recently due to suspected corruption? And I dont believe for one minute that all planning decisions are rejected or approved in an honest way. Outside influences do their thing and the decision makers do theirs, having been duly ' influenced'. In fact I would conclude that politics generally is riddled with corruption.

Shame, would of thought with the regen project they would of replaced it.

I suppose in the airports case the is no point replacing or fixing it when nobody wants to use it. Especially with the costs involved which aren’t cheap.
But I’m lead to believe they will replace it if an airline committed to using it on a long term basis. Eg British Airways or a long haul operator.

I think in one of WH's reports the airport stated they were getting one repaired and were replacing the other.

I’m sure getting the jet bridge is quite far down the list of things that LBA management are looking to spend their money on currently, especially as airlines are not too bothered about using it. As @lbaspotter has mentioned though, if there was long-term interest from an airline then that would make sense to invest in the cost of the repair/upgrade.
LTN, BRS, EMA, LPL & ABZ are all large UK airports without jet-bridges and between them see a mixture of low cost and full-fare airlines operating.

Yes it did. I understood it was to be replaced as part of phase 2 of LBA Regen. That was then. Whether it's changed or not, I wouldn't know.

If it’s the case I’m very happy it’s getting replaced as part of project #REGEN2, seen as Stand 8 is the only wide-bodied marked stand we have at LBA.
Especially seen as the markings for wide-bodied aircraft parking across stand 14/15 got removed.

Well I guess it's only the last third of the air bridge that will need replacing so the cost shouldn't be as high as purchasing a completely new air bridge. I've often thought they would be better moving the two air bridges onto the new terminal extension. Once the grass islands are filled in as part of the ramp expansion it will make wide-bodied access easier on that part of the ramp.

Just a random observation but I think this is good to put into context LBA's winter program.. looking at EMA departures yesterday they had 2 Jet2 flights according to FR24 and their website, looking at it today, they have 12, LBA nearly has triple that. Ryanair operating considerably more today and tomorrow here then EMA. (obviously EMA has many cargo movements)

very interesting, could LBA catch EMA up once the terminal extension opens?

Also strengthens the argument what on earth can DSA offer in winter?

Florida, Caribbean, Mexico, Gambia, Cape Verde. All destinations that could be served from Leeds but aren't.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
