I know it would open a can of worms, especially with the hearing into the CLEUD applications due in March.

But whilst what's been said by Rachel Reeves these past 2 days is still fresh in everyone's minds, I really do think LBA should think about get a planning application in right now to so get the night hour operating times redefined and get an increase on the night Quota limits.

But they are ‘venturing’ down a different route with an appeal hearing scheduled in just a few weeks. Why, having invested all the time and cost of this CLUED process, would they change course now?
The CLUEDs are with regard to night flying quotas not a new terminal building.
The previously proposed terminal is still part of their future plans so it makes sense to get approval in place whilst our Esteemed chancellor is supportive.

BBC Yorkshire are on the ball for once today, Not a bad article to read even though it ends with comments from "those that shall not be named".

The Chief Executive of LBA, Vincent Hodder, has welcomed the government's decision to back expansion at Heathrow. He believes it is "positive for the UK in general" and aviation more widely.

"The Chancellor's announcement yesterday, and her comments today, voices positive support for the aviation industry as a whole," said Mr Hodder.

"We've now got a government who understands the role of aviation as an economic accelerator, and are willing to stand behind it and support sustainable growth.

"Here at LBA, we're looking forward to working in collaboration with our government, our airline partners and our community to ensure we're delivering the world-class facilities Yorkshire deserves."

I very much doubt they will use the previous plans for the new terminal. I imagine that any new terminal now may be tweaked to increase the passenger capacity.

The previous submission was limited to 7m per year but I cant see them doing what they are doing now, also enabling 7m pax annually, then building a new terminal that has exactly the same capacity. I would expect any new terminal yo be redesigned to enable around 9m pax annually.

It takes months to design a new terminal to the point where a planning submission is made so LBA nay not be in a position to make a planning application now even if they wanted to. And despite all that RR has said, I'm sure in the case of LBA they'll find a way to say no.

Will the CLUED appeal mysteriously be granted to satisfy the airport after the latest debacle? If the government aren't embarrassed now, they will be after the CLUED appeal if the airport loses.
I dont see how todays news can change the result of the final CLEUD however if it goes against the airport I think if the airport apply to vary the current agreement theres a good chance it will be accepted. Likewise the 'review' approaching 5m pax should be far less troublesome.

The problem is if the appeal goes against LBA even with new found support for a planning application it takes around 2 years for that application to be determined (one reason Labour are trying to change the planning rules).
That will be two years during which LBA will be obligated to stick to the whatever the legal interpretation of the quota is…that could be quite a problem!

I dont see it will take that long but in the meantime I dont think there will be any appetite for penalising the airport for not sticking to the LCC interpretation of the quota.

Why don't we put in a planning application to extend the existing 'new' terminal nearing completion down to the end where the car park is, this will eliminate what remains of the awful bus shelter which is still remaining. This would be to the same external design of the new extension so look the part, internal design and fitting could be done at a later time when demand is there and could take us up to 9m passengers pa. We only have to dig a few holes, put in some footings and then mothball the project until such a time its needed. At this point the old terminal could be demolished to provide more aircraft parking and the whole area around repurposed. With 100m spent on the extension its highly unlikely we are going to get a brand new terminal as originally envisaged but this planning application could also resolved the opening hours and night time flying debate once and for all especially as Rachel Reeves now seems to be backing 'our little airport on the hill.'

@JRP are you @LBA4EVER in disguise?
You know i talk sense finger66 haha longer runway or move the tdzs, its the only way!

The short pier that extends out the new terminal extension could be lengthened, then extend outwards into the airfield so aircraft can park on each side of it which would also give us one heck of alot more parking gates for the planes, the current old terminal could be straight lined on the landside so we have a full length attractive frontage with masses of extra terminal space, im aware its easier said than done but with the current change of thinking by the muppet show called labour its just a thought..

So it’s not just Leeds Rhinos. As Leeds Bradford Airport has also just announced a new partnership which see advertising at Bradford Bull RLFC and sponsorships on the Academy and Scholarships kits

She's an absolute dipstick at the highest level. Completely clueless on how to get the UK up and running and growth big again - I mean overregulation by the EU/UK is what's dragging us all down in economic growth.

In terms of LBA I believe she had no choice despite personal feelings ... I believe the idiots that are the current bunch of moronic labour MP's, particular that little jumped up midget, Alex Sobel, were so vocal she could not go against what they were saying as she would of been the odd ball.

As the worlds worst actress turned crap Mayor said anything yet about Rachel Rubbish's plan yet?

I see in regard to the backing of London Heathrow Sadiq Kahn has come out against it of course no surprise. He's part of the climate change cult so of course he's against any form of expansion. Been the arrogant divisive Mayor that he is I think the prick should really keep his nose out of UK infrastructure projects and actually focus on bringing crime down in London and making it safe again. Amongst all the other jobs he should be doing.

Just when you thought 14 years tory failure for this country couldn't get any worse we get characters like this lot. Country's doomed - turn light out on the way out.

Mention them. The country’s quite frankly had enough and it won’t change as Sadiq will defend this. He’s that arrogant he thinks he cannot be accountable to the assembly.

Back to LBA and aviation

The mayor added her endorsement to the Vision 2030 plan, she is now being trolled in the press by that unwashed group. No doubt they’ll be writing to the press next week re Reeves 🤣

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
