Another million passengers might not sound much but consider that is the entire population of the City of Leeds, plus around another 200,000, passing through the terminal. That is a lot of people. The target has always been 7m passengers per year by 2030. To achieve that, we need more than just the terminal works planned - it will also be necessary for the airport to expand the parking stands (as indicated in the Masterplan) and possibly build at least one parallel taxiway to speed up departures and runway vacations. The trigger for that is a given number of movements per hour apparently.

Really enjoyed that read. One thing that worries me is only going up 1 million passengers in 5 years.
Forecasting is a impossible task.
We have to do a 5 year cash flow forecast for the bank, updated every 6 months, I often wonder doing some updates, what I was on 6 months before, when I see how wrong we were.
If your jobs on the line as Commercial Director, you want a conservative forecast, that hopefully can be met, if everything goes in your favour.

The wind must have been bad overnight as it's damaged the roof of the Airport Fire Station!
Has anyone else heard about this?
The pictures I've seen seem to show quite a lot of the felt roof is now on the ground next to the fire station and there were comments of the roof having been "blown off". However, from the pictures it's hard to tell whether it was just the top lining, or if it was damaged more significantly.

I’ll just nip round and clean it for you....there you go! Granted not the best picture in the World, comes out a bit dark on my phone. Suppose it depends on the quality of the equipment being used.

Better than nothing and just provided by the nice guy who lives at the end of the runway. When I watched yesterday it was quite dark but there again, it was later in the day so there was a lot of shadow.

It is always dark unfortunately. It would be nice if it could be lightened up a bit, but I suppose it depends on the equpemnt being used. Can't have everything so it is better than nothing at all.

A fly through animation of the 3 routes for the road are on this page if you scroll down

Thanks twev for the link. As a 'foreigner' but frequent user of LBA to see the fly through animations helped me visualise the three plans. Having looked at them I can't for the life of me see any purpose in Plan C (I might be missing something though) and as already suggested by others Plan A would seem the most valuable with Plan B being a more afforable but less ambitious option. Coming from the coast I would use either A or B but no benefit in C for me (or anybody else?). The timescales mentioned in the document though suggest a long wait for whatever is chosen.

I have to say that they are superb and worth the wait. I am impressed to that the Options A and B have largely avoided all buildings and very few will now require demolition. Homes near Horsforth Golf Club that were initially thought likely to be bulldozed are now left intact, although they will have a road behind them. At least it is in a deep cutting. I have just completed the online survey which is worthwhile and I would ask (putting my Support Group hat on) that you all do likewise.

NEW WEBCAM LINK

The 'old' new webcam is no longer in operation but there is a new feed located here
. It points at 32 but is still dark unfortunately so making identification of aircraft impossible unless you are also looking at FR24. Better than nothing though.

I wonder how long this one will last given that the original one was only up for a week or so?

EDIT
I see that the link above shows up much brighter and clearer than I was getting originally so will have to investigate further. In the interim please ignore my comments re it being dark.

Further edit.
When I play the link it opens up with a dark screen so I'll stick with my original comments but investigate further. Does this happen when others play the link?

Find it better to use this link as the Youtube link seems to drop after every view and I thought web cam not working, in addition you get a better picture changing to a HD setting.

Not on my link, its web cam, FR24 and LBA arrivals/departure board.
The web cam is a great addition for me, as I have FR24 Gold (worth its weight in gold or dollars as the case), this not very useful.

So does anyone out there know of anyone looking for staff. Travel background, preferably Air related and management. But open to change for the right opportunity

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
