And I think we will be successful independently. It may take a bit of time but we are an important ally to many countries around the world. We had plenty of trade and travel to Europe prior to joining the EU and I don't see that being hugely different after 31Dec, whether an actual trade deal is struck or not. Yes prices may rise but trade will still be there. Trade deal already signed with Singapore this week and appreciate that isn't Europe, but more of those will follow. Media scaremongering as you say. It's certainly not all doom and gloom

The sun put hatred into the British when it said all those foreigners were coming over here and stealing jobs. When truth be told - some of the British saying such ridiculous statements, are so god damn lazy and arrogant that they would never do a job such as cleaning, pot washing, etc as it's seen "beneath them". Thats the real problem in the UK. Citizens who think they are above "that job".

They are hiding behind Covid, it's easy to hide behind it. It's ridiculous they are using data from June.

The appeal by Heathrow Airport relating to the Environmentalist challenge against the Government approval of the 3rd runway has been upheld. The judges said that the Government were ok to approve it despite the Paris Agreement.

It's a huge blow to the Environmentalists who are claiming the decision is a disaster.

On a more local basis it may well have implications for the Council over LBA and the threat to challenge approval of the terminal (if given) in the court, as it seems to undermine one if their key arguments against any form of airport development.

This is a fantastic ruling. It goes to show that the baseless arguments put forward by the environmental campaign groups won’t stand judgment. We all agree climate change is a thing (well most do, but everyone is entitled to their opinion) but going relentlessly and viciously after one sector which is already trying its upmost to lead the way in change isn’t going to sit well. The world is making progress and so is aviation, but the likes of GALBA and their extremist string pullers XR will not bring the public along with them if they carry down the path of “the end is nigh” messaging. Trying to scare the public with graphs, charts and stupid protests never works, look at COVID for example, worked for a few months, then people turned off.

If they had any sense or imagination, they would of worked with the airport and the council to influence the green credentials of the new terminal and ensure it met the standards they expect. But unfortunately they have set there stall, and it will now collapse.

The independent Climate Change Committee that advises government has told the government that, in order to keep emissions down, LHR should only expand if regional airports contract. The government is also committed to improving infrastructure away from the South-East. Add in the fact that the PM has never been a fan of a third LHR runway with the government ultimately making the final decision and it can be seen that the path will not be a smooth one. Regional airports could yet benefit.

Environmental Groups are talking about taking the matter to the European Court of Human Rights.

Great to see the wailing and gnashing of teeth of the anti-airport lobby although they’re vowing to fight on, calling on Boris Johnson, who opposed the third runway, to intervene and cancel it. Puts him in an invidious position post Brexit with his claims of us once again becoming an economic powerhouse trading independently all over the World but without the necessary expanding international airport to go with it.

This is a key point. Davies in the original inquiry and report on R3 implied that flying long haul for example from regional airports was a waste of (air!) space due CO2 emissions etc. I'm sure airports like EDI, MAN & BHX strongly disagreed. If HMG, whether under Johnson or anyone else, heeded this advice and opted for LHR expansion, then the aim of levelling up would become a bigger joke. Maybe the impact on LBA would be less severe and could even provide one or two more daily flights to London. But I'm afraid the main economic benefits longer term would once again accrue n the SE.

Not looking good for Tenerife as it looks like the Island is closing it boarders for the next 15 days over the Christmas and New Year Festive season. I'm sure this will have a major effect on both Jet2 & Ryanair schedule from LBA
