Leeds Bradford - General Thread

By the looks of things the aircraft showed on the arrivals list but not on the departures list, or are'nt at the moment, suggesting that they went out empty. Although, they still continued to MAN, with their original callsigns, so I wonder if the passengers did stay on.
Im sure we will recieve further details on where they parked and if the passengers got off etc. I do also hope someone got a photograph of them - would be good to see an aircraft in FCH colours since merged with Thomsonfly and stopped their Thursday route to Faro, along with the Iberworld and Air Europa that used to visit - good days.
Lucky you living under the flight path, I'm sure some neighbours won't be as enthusiastic as you to hear more flights due from LBA

3 thomson planes, BMI plane, thomas cook, 2 jet2 and 2 monarch have diverted from Manchester in which 1 Thomson plane and the 2 jet2 aircraft have diverted to Leeds Bradford, a monarch one was to divert here but instead choose to go East midland due to the crew, also more are expected to divert as far as I am aware with some diverting to Leeds Bradford, tell you something LBA will be loving these diverts with the money they will gain from them.

From what I've know this afternoons 2x Thomson Airways flights that diverted in from Manchester have not de-plane at LBA. They were both held on the ground and re-fueled to fly back to Manchester with passengers remaining onboard at all times and now MAN's arrivals boards are showing them both as Landed at MAN.
I guess this is also the reason as to them using there original inbound flight number instead off using a Positioning (TOM9000) flight number.

Now I don't know what the situation is for the Jet2 (LS880) that diverted in as well. As that has re-positioned back to MAN as LS880W which is a positioning flight number but MAN's arrivals boards are is still showing it as Diverted...

No Concordelover, as far as I am aware there were 2 TOM and just the one Jet2 from Alicante. That is all that was shown on the arrivals board, and all that I saw landing at the time. Perhaps another was intending to divert to Leeds, but the storm over MAN might have passed in time for them to go in there?

I remember seeing a Jet2 aircraft that looked like it was in the LBA hold. This might have been the extra Jet2 aircraft that eventually ended up landing at Manchester as planned.

I saw an aircraft in the hold too, but what I saw was a 737-800, which could have been Jet2, although at the time I assumed it was a Ryanair and couldn't understand why it was in the hold in the first place. It was more or less above me as the TOM A320 landed, so perhaps it received clearance to go back to MAN prior to commencing its approach into LBA.

I saw the Jet2 737-300 in the hold (?) at least 20 minutes after the Thomson A320 had landed.

Was so good to see the Thomson 767 at the airport today, a different aircraft instead of the usual ones I see daily there

Best make the most of it Concorde Lover - PMI to revert to AEA 738 next season. Although it will be nice to see AEA back at LBA.

Seriously, it is very nice being so close. Trouble is now, that I don't want to move anywhere where I am NOT under the flight path, which limits my options somewhat when looking for a new place to live!

Whoshotjimmi, I don't see the logic in that. Why would TOM use a 767 this year, then reduce to an AEA 738 next summer??
Thats even less than what we had the summer before with Thomson's 757! Surely they used the 767 because they could fill it, so why limit the amount of passengers when you can easily fill the 767??

Logic isn't necessarily what dictates it, nor is it everyones strong point! I don't know the reasons why that decision has been taken but there has to be some thought process behind it. Perhaps TOM need their aircraft elsewhere. Perhaps the 767 isn't getting filled. Perhaps increased competition at LBA from other IT operators means the demand is waning. Anyhow, a lot can change between now and next summer. Let's be honest, a few weeks before the 2011 season started, Onur Air were to be operating into LBA. The source of that information is the LBAspotters website.

Perhaps TOM operations are now so firmly embedded at Donny, they want to pull out of LBA altogether. I would suggest the only reason the Corfu will still exist is because there is no-one else to operate it. If, indeed, it still does exist this time next year.

I don't think TOM will seize all their operations, and Corfu is currently operated by Jet2 on a Monday, I think(?)! The reason they have still kept some of their routes from LBA is, that they don't want to completely leave to then come back again if they finally see that their current DSA base isn't working.
They have kept some routes, in my opinion, so that their relationship with LBA still stands and that it makes things a lot easier for them to start routes up again, as it is to drop them, if they already have operations from the airport.

Lets remember that this time last year, the 2011 Palma flight was not intended to operate on a 767-300 - it was upgraded to that much later when (I presume) it was obvious that bookings were going well. There is plenty of time for next summers flight to be upgraded too, although it has to be said that TOM may well be looking to put the 767 to better use than the short hop down to Palma.

I think you may be referring to the BHAir A320 which was in the All-White Livery today...
