The AAIB has published its findings from the TUI runway excursion from last year;

Looks like they’re attributing it to crew not inputting enough right rudder and braking due to believing there was a mechanical fault with the aircraft. All seem happy that there was no issue with the runway, but obviously challenging weather conditions for the crew.
195 pax and 6 crew? 195 seems like a lot.

I like the reference to the 'commander vocalising concerns' as they were about to leave the runway!

There were many who jumped on the anti LBA bandwagon when this happened, claiming was it down to the runway, so nice to see they can now eat their words. And various newspapers etc. all stated the aircraft skidded off the runway. It didn't!

Clearly, there was a fault with the nose wheel bearing, which caused the reported juddering, but ultimately the CAA report makes clear that there was no evidence of aquaplaning at all, whilst the crew disconnected auto brake and reverse thrust early, resulting in inconsistent deceleration, and crucially there was a failure to apply the full rudder control which would have prevented the runway excursion.

Seems to be a combination therefore of a mechanical failure and the crew not reacting in the way that is expected - seemingly attempting to use the nosewheel to correct the yaw instead of the full rudder.

@WH but remember nothing like that would still ever happen at DSA, especially where TUI are concerned
Let's see how the mechanic and his chums manage to twist this report into an anti LBA diatribe. They must be so disappointed - yet they forget that DSA itself had a 747 freighter do pretty much the same thing. How could such a thing happen on such a lovely long runway where bad weather never happens?

Got a nice "ring" to it that!

And also what looks like to be a fairly favourable weather forecast for the next week or so which can only help with getting the external works completed and hopefully make the interior weather proof for winter. We have had some positive developments at LBA over recent years but this is huge

Sorry wrong thread that was supposed to go in regen thread. Mods are you able to move for me please

This article from Flight Global sets out the findings in layman's terms for anyone who doesn't have the patience to read the CAA report.

Another completely lifeless / random and quite frankly let’s just say it abysmal post from the social media team.. video of them pulling a guiness pint.. I can’t believe this sort of stuff gets signed off. For what? Minimal views / minimal interaction from the public.

What people want to see is airport / airline / route development. Something exciting and engaging. Not to see who’s pulls a pint better. I can’t wrap my head round on how this rubbish is worthy of a wage! Looks like school GCSE stuff. Looking at other airports you wouldn’t see this content getting posted..

Abit of fun maybe but I just find them bizarre. All just seems very forced

Before people jump down my throat, it’s my opinion. Others very welcome. But I for one do not rate it

I suppose its intended as a way to keep thd public engaged and LBA at the front of their minds.

The airport have stopped sending us press releases too but if this is the sort of thing they'd be sending, It's not something I'd want to be sharing with the forum if I'm honest.

Liverpool airport has been the most engaging since our member @Silvercity requested we were added.

That was probably a post for the Route Development thread. From what I have heard without being in the know is that Loganair have supposedly signed a contract and announcement due this month in line with a travel trade event. Let's hope that is all true.

And there is according to @lbaspotter something fairly imminent from easyJet.

It's very easy to be impatient but let's hope some patience pays off

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
