Would seem that the management have mixed up the routes and operating airline.
As you say lets wait and see what happens.
Nice to see some variety of airlines but it would have been nice to keep the Tommy Cook A321s as well.
Yes, I am really disappointed to see Thomas Cook Airlines leave us yet again. I am just hoping it is a short term departure and perhaps in 2020, we get a based aircraft, although even if we do the chances are it will be a leased in aircraft. I believe that the airline that they normally lease in from (that they intended to use for LBA and LTN bases to replace Monarch), leased the aircraft Thomas Cook were intending to use to other airlines on a 2 year deal (2018-19), so hopefully they will be freed up for 2020. Still prefer to see a Thomas Cook A321 based here but I can't see them buying one just for us, so we would be dependent upon them pulling one out of another base to give to us. Unlikely! And chances are LTN would be viewed as the more likely base even if they did?

I am not going to turn round and say that airlines will be clambering to operate from LBA once the terminal extension is Complete but it will certainly be easier to entice additional airlines with improved infrastructure, including repaired airbridges. The variety may just take care of itself then. We will never be another MAN but at least the doom and gloom of a year ago when ZB collapsed has gone. At least we have TUI as a holiday company and also TC Holidays even if we don't currently, and I say currently, have their in house airlines. Tis all nicely going in the right direction........

She should be departing for Toronto on Thursday.
The Norwich based aircraft will most likely call into Leeds whilst its also enroute to Toronto on Thursday.

It would be nice to see a TUI aircraft based next year, it probably won't happen but it would be nice! It always seems funny that they give the Sunwing aircraft to us as it does not advertise the TUI brand at all. If they based the Sunwing at a bigger base it would be around other TUI aircraft however at LBA it's surrounded by Jet2's and doesn't advertise them at all... Or am i just making a point that isn't there?

I can't understand why they drop Mahon as it is a destination that is doing well generally. TUi have some sizeable hotels there too. Jet2 have been doing the opposite and adding flights every year. I believe they are up to 5 or 6 a week next summer. Perhaps that is the problem. Jet2 are just beating TUi and if so it is nothing more than TUi deserve. They had LBA in the palm of their hands and walked away.

Maybe it’s to do with MAN or DSA. Mahon may have not been doing well from these airports (probaly DSA rather than MAN) so removing it from LBA will result in more passengers using it from other TUI hubs. Maybe Neos will no longer come in as there will be a gap in the schedule.

Disappointing as it is to lose a TUI flight, Jet2 are the ones committed to LBA. Jet2 grasped the opportunity to develop LBA with both hands. Everyone else's loss is their gain. Yes it means less variety but give me the committment any day of the week

Well interestingly, I’m not sure if anyone was aware, but the Airport Agencies representative who works at the airport (underneath the Swissport brand) has been made redundant last month.
Her team were directly reaponsible for handing out the TUI/Marella Cruises labels, questionnaires and health declaration forms for any passengers flying to AGP, PMI and CFU and then catching a cruise.
The Airport Agencies brand have cited that as Marella (TUI) are now handing out cruise labels and documentation at the airport on arrival they no longer require a representative at departure airports in the UK, and so have completely shut down the Airport Agencies brand/arm of the company.

Just another sign of TUI cutting back, this time not just at LBA I will add. It seems this was the last major contract for Airport Agencies to lose before it became surplus to requirements.

This particular representative has worked at LBA for over 20years, previously managing the old; Airtours/MyTravel TicketDesk, First Choice, Thomson & Thomas Cook TicketDesk’s, whilst also being the LBA representive for the Onur Air, Innsbruck, Balkan and Thomson Caribbean Charters to just name a few.

A sadly missed LBA legend already...!

I also note they have announced another long haul route from Doncaster to Cancun !
If only we had a runway of sufficient length !

TUI operates to Cancun from the BRS runway which I think is shorter than LBA's and it's going 2 x weekly next summer. I think they block off a few seats for CUN but not many as the average load on the B787-8 in August was 282.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
