I guess it's early days and there is still time but visibility could become a major issue.

They also need to appear in the internal systems for travel agents as we all know how lazy they can be in just directing people to LHR.

I remember 12 months into the BA BHX-JFK route going to a travel agents in Corporation Street and asking to book the Birmingham flight..........the agent turned round and said "Birmingham does'nt fly to New York". I spent half an hour educating her and then booked it with another travel agency who did know about it.

I've just looked at existing Primera flights (Copenhagen to Barcelona) and they don't appear on Google Flights, Expedia or Kayak but they do on Skyscanner.

I think the best we can hope for then is that BHX to EWR/BOS show up (soon) on Skyscanner.

However if you type "Flights to Boston from Birmingham" in google search like many people will do, Primera is top of the list :)

I did notice a Tweet to Telegraph Travel :)

So we'll hear about the next two routes in September, not too long to wait.

West coast USA from Birmingham! I guess it would be via another US city, unless they're planning on acquiring a larger aircraft.

The A321LR that is coming in Q4 2018 could* make direct flights to Florida viable.

* I say could as I'm not sure if the max range is official yet or just an estimate, there are also many variables to be considered.

From what i've been told and read the LR version has the same range as the 757 and that can't get from the UK to Florida without a fuel stop. If they want to do that then i believe they would need a widebody.

Hmmmm I don't think that is correct but happy to be proven otherwise!

The A321Neo is designed to compete and replace the 757, both of which have a range around 4,000 miles (I believe the 757 has the slight larger range of 4,200 miles)

However, whilst tests are still being completed and certificates awards, it's believed the A321NeoLR will have an operational range of 4,600 miles, which comfortably includes Florida!

If that is true then that could open up a lot of regional airports to Florida. Take CWL, Orlando has always been very popular and did well especially under Monarch unfortunately TCXs expansion at MAN has taken the route away. An airline with a narrow body with the range could do well even at a 1 weekly frequency. I do hope Primera do well at BHX and I hope the team at CWL are already in contact with them. 1 A321neoLR based at CWL would be very nice!

Well they also have 20 737 MAX 9's on order and have said that they are looking at further bases in the next two years so you never know :)
Fingers crossed! I've also heard reports that both the neoLR and MAX9 might require a fair bit of runway to get going so if they are looking at the southwest then CWL's runway could give them an advantage over BRS.

beat me to it... a great article...

their bets for the next 2 routes are Toronto and Washington!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
