I know it's important to stay grounded but the thing that my mind keeps coming back to is the presence of easyJet baggage gauges in the terminal. If they aren't 'old stock' from the Geneva operation then why are they there ? They don't necessarily signify a forthcoming base for the orange mob but could be there in support of a series of 'W' patterns. Either would be a major boost for Leeds Bradford but I would naturally prefer the former over the latter. Fingers crossed and let's see what occurs.

Just been on Easyjet's website and looked at their route map and drop down menu. Leeds features on neither. If it weren't for someone putting out the Easyjet baggage measurement thingys, I would be tempted to think that Easyjet had just forgotten to remove LBA from their drop down menu and have now been prompted to do so.

I've just checked and its still showing up as a destination in the drop down menu, That's even after clearing me cookies from me PC. Here's a screen shot to prove it.

Yes . Surely if Easy are returning to Leeds , they would establish the routes and sell seats before they put out stands .

Think it’s more the fact the airport haven’t asked Swissport to dispose of the gauges yet.

They were VERY quick to throw the Loganair gauge and Monarch barriers and gauges though!

Easyjet must be updating its website tonight, as I can't even access the homepage and just get an error message. Will be interesting to see if LBA reappears in the drop down menu once it's back online.

Yep it's still there. No routes for it though

Leeds/Bradford has now disappeared from the Easyjet website. Oh well maybe next time...

Still can't help thinking that Easyjet were just being slow to remove LBA from their own website. Nothing more, although that doesn't explain the cabin bag measuring thingys. It would be great if there was more to it though...

Speaking of Sunwing, it struck me how little effort TUi (and Sunwing themselves) went to to rebrand the aircraft this summer. Apart from a notice by the pax doors (probably a legal nicety) stating that the aircraft was operated by Sunwing for Thomson, there was no external indication of the Thomson brand. Very poor for the country's largest tour operator. Very Thomson-lite. At least when SkyService subbed for Airtours in the late 90s, there was a large 'Airtours' banner on the fuselage, albeit with the maple leaf logo retained on the fin.

Regarding the interview with David Laws posted in the infrastructure thread, it's interesting that attracting an Islamabad flight was mentioned specifically in relation to an improvement in passenger numbers in the near future. I wonder if there is any substance to this? It's more interesting it was mentioned as it's unlikely a 2-4x weekly flight would contribute substantially to overall passenger numbers.

Also, currently Ryanair have only 86x weekly departures on sale for August compared to 91 last August. Although lots of noise was made just after the Monarch collapse, nothing has come to fruition yet (at other UK bases too it must be added). This loss of capacity almost cancels out the capacity added by Thomas Cook. Time is surely running out for them to get the schedule sorted (if it changes at all of course)?

It was middle of February last year before Ryanair got the LBA summer 2017 scheduled finalised. So plenty of time yet.

The 70% of Monarch flights covered, was based on Thomas Cook opening a one A320 base at LBA. As we now know, because Thomas Cook cannot source an aircraft to lease, both the newly announced bases, at LBA and LTN, have been shelved for 2018. We do have 5 or 6 Thomas Cook flights still, operating on W legs, but we must now have perhaps only 60 - 65% of the Monarch lost capacity covered, despite Jet2 increasing flights by 100K seats for summer 18 and the increases introduced by TUi.
