The airport isn’t open 24 hrs though. There is ample time to fit it outside hours if they wanted to limit disruption.
Have you seen how narrow the space is between the first and second doors? Not that easy when you have families or people with large cases trying to pass each other.
As I said it makes the airport look cheap. Frankly it would have been more sensible to close the entrance completely for a few days to do the work and send everyone through doors nearer Hall B. Having seen this arrangement in action the other week I thought it was shabby as did most of the other nearby passengers trying to get in or out at the time.
We all defend the airport as we all want it to succeed, but that doesn’t mean every decision that is made is actually right or defendable.
It may not be open 24 hours in winter, but it is a 24 hour airport in summer and is now operating 24/7. There are already flights returning to LBA in the early hours of the morning now they have moved on to the summer schedules. Incidentally, I am not defending the situation - simply stating that communication helps and it is inevitable that whilst the work is happening, the doors impacted will be out of action. How the work is done and the impact on doors is likely to be the decision of the contractor doing the work. They have to do a method statement showing how they will carry it out without impacting on H&S.
