It seems Qatar are only on average £1 cheaper at MAN on most dates Ian (£595 at MAN versus £596 at BHX).

Hardly worth heading up the M6 just for that. It’s just a case of larger markets and putting the capacity where it makes the best return, and the fact MAN is only £1 cheaper despite having over 3 times the capacity tells you what you need to know about where the higher yield is.....

Bit like my local travel agent (5 miles from BHX)
Offering cheap seats to Dubai on Turkish from Gatwick !

I don't know what % of travellers use travel agents for flights or holidays given the online offerings but the new CEO needs to be ensuring that there is a coherent plan that pushes all BHX services through the multitude of marketing channels available. There are opportunities at trade events to push the routes available and get travel agents into the airport , update (educate?) them and show off the product.

Doesn`t change, I used to work in travel in Manchester and when ever we used to ring the airlines/consolidaters
they nearly always used to quote London fares and sounded really suprised that anybody would want to fly from a local airport
even if they operated from both LHR and MAN

Emirates and Etihad seem to have taken a real hit at Manchester with Qatar and Oman doing the damage plus of course the
direct flights

QR load factor BHX 67% MAN 66%
EK load factor BHX 81% (500 pax per flight) MAN 80% (458 pax per flight)

More rotations from MAN obviously but look like we are doing ok

A 1% difference. I’m not even sure what point your trying to prove with that one to be honest, as it’s like comparing apples to oranges. You yourself admit that MAN has more rotations, and that’s even before you compare the difference in direct competition faced up the M6 and bigger aircraft (QR use the A350/B777 as well as the B788 at MAN versus the B788 at BHX, to which I notice you put the average EK load but not QR one, trying to hide something?)

And what month does the figure relate to? Jan stats not available for BHX but MAN reporting a high % increase on MAN-DOH for Jan, so, the numbers you quote could be out of date already.

Context is everything.

Getting back to Qatar Airways at BHX. It could be possible that the Business cabin and cargo loads don't warrant an upgrade like at EDI to an A350 but it's possible once the 787 9 joins the fleet BHX may be see them sooner than other airports.

Jerry I am sure that the B788 are being moved over to Air Italy when the 789 turn up so I expect we see them
all over the country as they seem to chop and change frequently

Yes they are. So it's quite possible BHX will see them sooner rather than later unlike say Cardiff who'd I'd expect to be one of the last airports to see one.

Welcome back, we have all missed you.

Birmingham is one of the top destinations for Kozhikode originating passengers connecting through Doha.

All about Amritsar eh.....

Based on OAG Traffic Analyser data, Qatar Airways’ top connection points for Kozhikode-originating passengers between October 2017 and September 2018 were Kuwait City, New York JFK, Dublin, Moscow Domodedovo, London Heathrow and Birmingham.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
