It's the date the Government set as the earliest date from which going abroad might be allowed. Can someone just explain to me what exactly this may 17th date for flying is? Far as im aware its 21st june but i believe that dates in question now.
Not a chance of that happening now, also i see there is no further info been announced whatsover on when the public can travel and what countries will be red, amber or green in this traffic light system, everything is essentially on hold, although the death of hrh prince phillip is going to over shadow the news for the next week or so now. It's the date the Government set as the earliest date from which going abroad might be allowed.
You do really need to listen to the news/briefings/read newspapers as that would obviate the need to ask such questions. So as WH said keep your ears open on 17 May or more likely a few days before that if travel is to go ahead on 17th.Not a chance of that happening now, also i see there is no further info been announced whatsover on when the public can travel and what countries will be red, amber or green in this traffic light system, everything is essentially on hold, although the death of hrh prince phillip is going to over shadow the news for the next week or so now.
Excuse me, i do constantly listen to the news, in fact compared to most others i speak to im more aware of whats happening, im also aware of a hell of lot more that the media are not telling us regarding the current situation but we will leave that for another day. So that may 17th date is the earliest we may be able to travel? Who in their right mind is going to risk it and book from the 17th may, mad!You do really need to listen to the news/briefings/read newspapers as that would obviate the need to ask such questions. Pandemics don't last forever, even with new strains of disease, we will and must find away to live with it. There is absolutely no point in pretending we can hide from it. A sensible reopening of the industry to countries with a similar level of disease would be a start but instead the government choses to pander around as if the UK is protected with its borders half closed. It isn't. If anything it appears to be a political decision to do this, rather than a scientific viewpoint as the WHO repeatedly says you can't stop a virus by closing borders.
How many Covid and TB infections will be being imported via this route, yet the wider UK public can only meet in groups of 6 outdoors as anything else would be 'unsafe'. Once the decision had been taken to make the region red, then it should have been with immediate effect so there would be no time to organise all these 'CovidAir' flights.I noted 8 wide body aircraft inbound to Manchester last Wednesday or Thursday all from Islamabad.
I has been said lots of inbound passengers arriving before Pakistan becomes a red designated Covid region.
I am also told Birmingham and Stansted had multiple flights from the same airport..
What im saying is that no way would i book a holiday if the period between 17th may and 21st june is under government review!@LBA4EVER You say anybody who books for the 17th May is mad. What about all those like me who had their holiday rebooked from last year, are they mad too? I was due to go away at the end of May but Jet2 have cancelled it due to the ongoing uncertainty from the government and I totally agree with Jet2's decision.

With traffic light systems, quarantines, pcr tests, virus rates going thru the roof in europe and parts of the world together with variant strains im gonna stick my neck out here and say the june 21st date is debatable, the government seem quiet and reluctant to give any postive signs on travel, truths known their probably worried sick of a 3rd virus wave back here. Anyway as i predicted back in jan travel is still a mess at the moment, but like many say on here we need to just get on and live with it instead of all this pratting about!!
