Good news and bad news today, good news is we have got tickets for the T20 cricket semi final in next years Commonwealth games the bad news is failed on the beach volleyball?

Also my wife has an interview in September as a volunteer.

Black hats for rollo, Beach volleyball will be a sad affair without our rollo in attendance!

Surely a black hat is a bit strong isn't that what they put on before been sent to the gallows.

I didn't know that Birmingham had any beaches.

Brummies call it Weston-super-Mare!
Or Weston-super-Mud as the tide goes out such a long way across the estuarial mud. Obviously they will create an artificial beach for the Birmingham Games. Where will it be?

It will be smack in the heart of Birmingham at the old Smithfield site so will clearly outdo the previous Commonwealth games in 2018 at Brisbane when they had to make do with a beach on the gold coast and all that wall to wall sunshine.

A small one sprang up at The Fort Shopping Centre, taking out a number of parking spaces. Not sure whether they bothered last year, certainly not this one.

It's actually Frankley Beeches. Near two reservoirs so hardly qualifies as a place for sunbathing.....

Why can't the organisers utilise one of the big halls at NEC for the purpose? Why inflict the event in Weston super mare or offer it to Knutsford services? Birmingham has spaces for any event so why spread it around England? In fact, why did they bid for the games?

It's in Birmingham see posts 687 to 690.

Usual Birmingham attitude, no expansive thinking!

Given the unpredictable weather, it could be pouring down in W-s-M so an indoor venue such as the NEC would be more practical. Near to transport links too. Surely there must be some technology out there that would create a suitable backdrop of cloudless blue sky indoors....

Hopefully, all the roadworks in and around Birmingham will be finished by then.

Sutton Park has been chosen for triathlon. Ideal because there's 7(?) lakes, various walking/cycling/running routes and great spectator experience. After all, it hosted the Lombard RAC Rally many, many years ago....

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
