There are some reports in the press that there will be some sort of cut / relaxation of APD (on domestic flights (to be funded by increased 1st and club long haul APD) - will this help LBA improve its offering and get us an LHR flight back even if its through some sort of BA franchise mechanism with a smaller airline as in these uncertain times changing aircraft in your own country takes out one level of complexity compared with AMS! Come on LBA, jump on the back of this if it happens!

But the point us that theres no money in point to pointyes
Makes sense, but a night stopper would bring a lot more point to point passengers on day returns.
Yes but if point to point passengers lose money where's the incentive for BA to introduce a night stopper?

It is a shame but absolutely no surprise. When someone else takes the LBA gamble like Jet2 did they will well and truly reap the benefits from the potential that exists. Just need that someone to appear

it 100% could work with decent time, On the beach, Love Holidays etc would most likely get a lot of bookings through them. Interesting the BHX & EDI times are reported to be similar to TK times.. so not much sense in that.

Great to see in today's budget announcement that APD is been cut by 50% on UK domestic flights. Just a shame it doesn't come into effect until April 2023.

Long term it may help us get our London link restored along with a few other domestic routes that we've lost.

In real terms what does that mean? £60 return flights to London, compared to £140rtn on the train?

Hopefully the cut in APD shows this Government, in spite of its green credentials, still believes aviation is a an economic and social necessity and in this light may look more favourably on the terminal application.

A link to Istanbul has been somewhere I’ve always wanted to see at LBA as it offers a wide range of connections to places such as the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

intrigued also that they have interests in Southampton. But with that runway extension it will enable bigger aircraft to fly further which is the benefits to the runway extension.

This of course isn’t the first time a link between LBA and Istanbul has been talked about. A few years ago, Pegasus said it was down to LBA/LPL and MAN as to where they served next, so while it didn’t happen for LBA, it’s clearly on a ew people’s radar.
Yes LBA will be on the radar for many airlines but we need a better product (new terminal) then they really will take interest.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
