One thought of I may, given the problems at LHR currently, will some national delegations be arriving at BHX? If not already?

I caught an article on one of the local news channels earlier this week that showed the Aussie swim team arriving at BHX. I've also seen several games branded vehicles travelling along the A45 with various national flags being flown.

Think I'm going to head to Birmingham this weekend, just to soak up the atmosphere. Hopefully it'll be similar to Euro 96, or that memorable summer of 1998 :)

Full credit to 'GAZ' on SSC for posting the video below.

I've been following the games thread on SSC for a while now and media outlets around the world do seem to be bigging up Birmingham and the games which really is fantastic to see (y)

When it comes to Birmingham I don't expect much from the BBC but I hope that we get treated fairly, get given credit where credit is due and that they can keep a lid on the snide jibes, just for the next couple of weeks.

When you take in to account Durban pulling out of being the host city giving Birmingham 2.5 - 3 years less than normal to prepare and add in 18 months or so of Covid restrictions, it's quite incredible that we've even got to this point. I really hope that tomorrow evening goes well to reward all of the effort that has been put in ☺️

Birmingham was absolutely buzzing yesterday, as busy as I've seen it for a long time and such a great atmosphere too, especially when Mr Motivator was doing his thing.

Centenary Square and Victoria Square were both full to bursting yet we still managed to sneak a front row spot to see the marathon medal winners :) The Birmingham 2022 Megastore had quite a considerable queue to get in, as my lad wanted a Perry we headed down to the store on New Street which was still fairly busy. Saw lots of money being spent, they must be making a fortune.

Whilst earwigging other peoples conversations there were lots of positive comments with plenty of pictures and selfies being taken.

My only negative is with long queues at pretty much every restaurant we walked past I thought there may have been a more extensive food offering. I think I saw a couple of stands in Vic Square but that's about it. Minor issue though and along with the restaurants, the shops must be doing a roaring trade on meal deals.

Not managed to get down to Smithfield yet as kids just wanted to see the bull, hopefully will head there on Wed.

Coming up on Saturday. Cannot wait. Visit the city centre with my son whilst wife and daughter watch the Netball.

But I was watching on TV the 3 on 3 basketball yesterday evening and I noticed a tall core to a tower in the background. It was to the left of the Beecham tower so somewhere in the region of the Gay Village? Anyone know what it is? Thanks in advance.

Cheers mate. Great photos. Two 30 storey towers.

Have to say the city looks tremendous on the TV. I am old enough to remember what it was like. Now it looks like a top modern city and a place full of pride.

See you on Saturday! :)

1 is 30 and the other is actually 36, however as it is situated further back on Broad Street actually looks shorter than the 30 storey tower.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
