Whilst the prices are very high, the flights are also restricted. It can`t have escaped Ryanair management. I wonder if they are seriously thinking of a fourth jet at LBA to take advantage. Easyjet have a toe in the door and are doing well, such a policy won`t, or shouldn`t have escaped their management either...Dont expect too much until the 24/25 new terminal but I bet we hear something blowing before then.

I've seen a lot of complaints on social media about Summer 23 Jet2 prices. People seem to be booking Tui in preference.
“Jet2 has upgraded its annual profit forecast to £385 million for the year to 31 March 2023 after it saw a recent surge in bookings and prices”. Seems that in spite of the current economic woes people are willing to pay higher prices for their holidays and the airline is taking full advantage to recoup some of the losses suffered during the pandemic.

I think folk are just desperate to get outta this country! Haha

Flew back LS478 from LPA today. Jet2 had 15 check in desks open with no queues and the inbound aircraft was early.... however there was a BHX aircraft swap and whomever was responsible didnt quite get it right and something was left on the ex LBA aircraft so we were delayed 30 minutes leaving but arrived on time. On the deck tonight the vast majority of LS aircraft are in the holidays livery and I think only 1 was in the traditional livery. Looked like 100% full as was the outbound. Parked mid Stay 2 and boy the pavements down to there need an upgrade for walking down in the dark - it all feels a bit temporary next to where the extension while be! Aircraft to car in 50 minutes.

Landed back at LBA this eve on ryanair FR9078. In all my years of flying ive never experienced a landing like this eve! Quite literally just before touchdown the aircraft was severely swaying to point i thought he might abort but he banged it down so hard you could feel it lift off and bounce a second time. Passengers screaming and panic onboard, was certainly the topic of conversation throughout the terminal! Funny thing is the wind was not too bad and blowing from NE i believe.
Off the aircraft and through security to exit in less than 20mins so all good there.

It's no more than a breeze blowing!
I had a landing like that some years ago on a calm blue sky day.
Maybe you had an inexperienced pilot flying under instruction.

Sounds like the crew just discovered landing on a downhill runway!
Im aware a firm touchdown is actually a good thing at LBA when you have a slight downhill slope on a relatively short runway (by int airport terms) of which i often have to explain to the flying public why they tend to land hard. Im guessing the pilots on my flight last night hit last sec crosswind and just thought get it down quick! Those 800s sure come in pretty fast!

Returned from Vilnius this morning after a quick 2 night trip there. Flew out at 0615 Sunday morning. Security was a breeze at 0430 when we went through. All shops and restaurants airside were open. Totally full flight out to VNO on this soon to be axed service. Family sat next to us had traveled from Sunderland to catch the flight.

Back to LBA this morning. Vilnius Airport is small but everything is in the right place….it just looks good! Another full flight. People behind us were from Chorley and Blackpool (I was earwigging). They were not impressed that the service is ending soon. Lady behind said she has used these flights every 2 months for years to go home for a few days. Ironically there were 2 Wizz A320’s parked up and covered in snow at VNO this morning. Would love to see them take over from FR from the end of the month.

Nice descent into LBA, coming in over Newcastle and then Menwith Hill and a fantastic flyover of Leeds city centre to do a 180° turn to line up to 32 and the most smoothest landing I think I’ve ever had at LBA. Airport was deserted so no time at all through passport control and out.
Now my only issue is not to do with LBA but with Arrow. On Sunday morning we used Amber Cars from Wortley to Farnley to LBA…£23. Today Arrow wanted £40 for the same journey….we waited for an Amber!

I really do not understand why another airline hasnt taken over the route. Its been discussed at some length on here but none of the reasoning makes sense to me.

Wouldn't mind betting that Ryanair are back on the route before the years out. I know the reasons are different, but they've axed Vilnius before then restarted it. It's their way of forcing the hand of the airport operator. The operator can't afford to lose all these pax from various airports with not many ready made replacements. And Ryanair can't really afford to hand them over to other airlines. Yes, Wizz could pick it up but whether they have the spare aircraft remains to be seen.

I think that is an issue that many people fail to consider, when they ask why another airline doesn't step in on a dropped or underserved route. And, it's not just aircraft availability, but crew as well. Most airlines will plan their fleet months or even years in advance (particularly, when deciding how many aircraft to purchase or lease). Crew rostering is probably done weeks in advance and while the airline will have crew on call to cover sick leave, deploying those crew permanently on a new route will deplete the pool of reserve crew. If an airline drops a route, then the airline will want to re-deploy that aircraft elsewhere. There could be many possible routes to put it on, but other factors have to be considered. Which route will provide the greatest yield, whilst fitting in with the current schedule of the fleet. I.e., not requiring a major re-shuffling of the airlines schedules to accommodate the new service. This is also the reason why diverted aircraft will often be flown back empty. Better to cancel one service, than throw out the whole day's schedule for that aircraft.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
