Reading the full article it also seems Gatwick and Luton expansions are to be given the green light. That would point to no chance of the Climate Commission proposals being adopted anytime soon. Could be important for LBA going forward.

All 'London' airports. Fortunately, she, as an individual, won't have any major influence over future LBA plans for growth, as for the next few years, the growth approvals are already secured. Longer term, chances are she'll be out of a job long before LBA submit any major planning applications for her to object to.

In my view, Sobel is the bigger problem, racking up support from University 'doctors'' of this, that and the other, and temporary green thinking visitors to Leeds who object to our airport then leave ( better known as students).

The fact it was all approved in the previous terminal planning application is the most frustrating bit. BHX getting theirs is a positive sign and should be used as a stepping stone / defence.

They who shall not be named are reported to be pushing LCC to take enforcement action in the meantime for breach of planning conditions. LBA are saying enforcement when the planning approval meaning is uncertain and the subject of an appeal would be inappropriate.

Sadly not the case.

If LBA apply to vary the hours again, which likely as not they will do in the future should they lose the appeals, then even if LCC approve the application, there is a real risk that when they do, they will introduce other restrictions such as a passenger cap, or make various Section 106 demands which the airport has to fund. The passenger cap in particular could be a case of 2 steps forward and 1.5 steps back with little gained. A means to restrict LBA growth through the back door.

So, from an LBA point of view, the CLEUD appeal is the preferred way forward. Win, and they get what they need with no back door restrictions imposed by the Council to pacify the NIMBY/Green fraternity. If they lose, then I expect a planning application at some point in time as really, LBA will have little choice if the airport is ever to break free of it's planning shackles.

Although I’m not a climate change fanatic, it has been shown that human activity does contribute to the natural changes. What gets my goat is the headlong rush into climate saving measures before most of the technology needed is ready and without much thought about reality. Aviation is a prime example, yes it can and will be made greener but it’s not an overnight job and aviation is a vital component of our modern World, without which the international economy would collapse. The climate fanatics as always fail to see the reality of most of their ludicrous, unrealistic demands.

Thousands of years ago, the world entered an ice age, all by itself. Still thousands of years ago, still all by itself and without any assitance from mankind, it became warmer. So much so that the ice sheet covering the British Isles as far South as North London, melted completely. It's what the world does.

It may be the case that mankind is responsible for accelerating the rate of warming but I fear that nothing we do will prevent nature taking its course.

I do understand the Vincent has had several meeting with Mrs Reeves and the Mayor so I suspect the path is being cleared just in case…..

And this is how ridiculous this has all become. If you talk about climate change by discussing the various options that might or might not have caused it, big tech intervenes. if what you say goes against the current narrative, internet platforms such as this can become shadow banned by companies like Google. This really is a thing. It has happened to Forums4airports about four times now and I have to manually find the posts that Google deem inappropriate and remove it before action is taken against the forum. So much for a free society. #ClimateChange
