Bristol: EasyJet Route News & Base Updates

Use this prefix for new threads for Bristol Airport
Verona brand new , Vienna Xmas only - other two completely new
Edelweiss has next summer already on sale

Isn’t it always the way. You wait years for a route to come along and then airlines then try to compete… Marrakech, Istanbul, Porto now Zurich.

Good selection of new routes though. Some big hubs there but I guess a point-to-point operator is better than no operator.

Also some good opportunities for two-centre breaks. I flew into MUC and back from SZG last year. Pretty close together. Vienna is also good for Bratislava.

Extra flights have been added in October this year - for example mxp goes daily and mad also goes daily.

I wonder if the four new routes are intended to be winter only or will they be added for the summer programme too

I think all 4 of them could be options for going all year round.

Anyone know why there seems to be a blackout in January for flights to Basel and Zurich on EasyJet? They stop in early Jan and restart in Feb?

EasyJet have paused a lot of year round routes this winter between early Jan and Feb half term presumably as that’s the quietest time of the year. It’s not a new thing although this winter looks to encompass more routes than previous years. Ryanair, Jet 2 and TUI have all made similar frequency reductions for that period of time.

Also October seems to have gone back to 19 based after dropping to 18 for September.

Shame it’s 2 destinations already served from BRS. Istanbul doesn’t seem to be on sale beyond the end of March.
Well with the focus on the holiday arm of the business I expect that more routes will be replicated. I suppose there's still time for Istanbul to go onsale but we don’t know how Pegasus has effected it for them.

Istanbul still not on sale from Manchester either so who knows. Seems a bit late now to release. I also wonder whether some of the new routes launched this winter such as Munich would roll over into the summer as well. Also given four new flights per week is this a sign of maybe aircraft number 20 coming ? Cannot see any dropped route/ flight to be replaced by Thessaloniki or Reus so far

Is there a stand available for another aircraft?

36 stands? 1 KLM, 5 Ryanair?, 5 TUI, 6 Jet2?, 19 Easyjet=36 aircraft? Unless BRS has added more stands?
There’s now 38 stands at BRS (39 if you count 7N which is a departure only stand). There’s also plenty of contingency stands scattered around (mostly off stand parking in the various cul-de-sacs).
20 of the stands are capable of handling up to A321 size aircraft, and all the rest are capable of handling A320 size aircraft. There is also a stand capable of handling A333/B789 which takes up two A321 stands.

In peak S25 there were 38 based aircraft:
1x KLM
5x Ryanair
5x TUI
8x Jet2
19x easyJet (+1 standby I believe)

The August figures for Istanbul were:
IST (EZY) 3,035 approx load 168 per flight (LF 90%)
SAW (Pegasus) 3,567 approx load per flight 137 (LF varied due to different aircraft size)

I note that today, Turkish have increased their IST-BHX flights from 18x to 21x weekly in S26.
Will be interesting to see what easyJet and Pegasus plan for their Bristol to Istanbul routes and if Turkish see any future from IST-BRS

I wonder if the challenge for BRS is that Turkish may well look to increase at or launch to airports where there's competition from ME3 carriers. If we look at their rumoured supposed next destinations Newcastle and Glasgow they both have an ME3 carrier.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
