In a morbid sort of way the ME crisis could, and I say could, have come at a good time for LBA in the sense that it gives LBA time to finish the regen before airlines start thinking about expansion again.
The wider problem is though the overall damage the crisis is doing globally and none of should underestimate the time it's going to take to recover from it even if ends tomorrow.
There are some difficult times ahead and whilst it is very frustrating I agree to not see new airlines at LBA at an exciting time in it's development, a little more patience is going to be necessary from us all

At the last ACC, LBA stated that whilst new carriers would be nice, their priority is more flights from existing carriers, which obviously would include Easyjet as well as Jet2 and Ryanair. Maybe Emerald and Sun Express too.

Exactly. Growth is a delicate balancing act between keeping existing partners happy and attracting new ones. The solid growth obtained over the years has been a result of the loyal airlines building a solid network from LBA. It would be good to see Turkish etc but just looking on a map you can see why they might focus on NCL and GLA first.

NCL yes, but GLA is close to EDI which is 2/3 daily.

During my interest in civil aviation (over 60 years) I have seen big changes in the services provided. If there is a down turn, pax numbers drop dramatically but take a lot longer to pick up again eg Covid.

What I’ve been noticing lately with especially Ryanair is I think they’re focusing less on new routes and more on maximising their current routes. I remember when Alicante and Palma going beyond daily in S2022 (I believe) was particularly impressive, now Alicante is 17X weekly in the summer, Dublin is 3-4X daily (up from consistently 2X pre-covid), Poland and Riga have seen large increases. If you compare the past few years they don’t really serve more destinations, but their overall frequency is quite impressively higher. I’m hoping when routes eventually reach their market capacity (see Wrocław, possibly Malaga), there will be more new routes

GLA is a fair point but I suppose it’s an easier sell given the size of the airport and its offering.

You’re right, commercial aviation is amongst the first to feel the pinch and the last to recover. Covid caused an artificial spike in demand after restrictions were lifted as people had not been able ti travel widely for a couple of years. That’s settled down now.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
