x1 AC base, just doesn't offer flexibility / value for money, plugging alot of £ into a one base. Minimum 2 to offer flexible durations and times but Id say x3/4 would be a better start (this is in general btw)

Sean M on twitter teasing a new UK base for an existing carrier.. if people think this isn't LBA related could it be return of easyJet NCL base? Or could it be DSA? (Joking..)

Im sure if Easyjet was discussing a base I think it would insist on having a share of the quota slots- which may prove tricky. Non based services may be a much better altetnative.

Certainly not DSA as they don't have ANY existing carriers! And I'm not joking! 😄

I honestly cannot see an easyJet base yet at LBA and if it happens then LBA have worked a miracle. It's not really how easyJet work, tending to build a gradual but significant presence first. A good sprinkling of non based flights on a daily basis would be great and put the terminal to better use during quieter times. And, as I mentioned recently, more based aircraft brings more 'night' flights which is problematic until LBA win their CLEUD case, and even more so if they dont win it.

As I put in the previous post I cant see it either. It would be interesting though if they did but insisted on some of Jet2's quota slots as a pre condition.

Geneva and Paris aren't bucket and spade routes so who is to say that we couldn't get Berlin, Barcelona, Bordeaux or Milan.
No they're not but they are pretty strong package holiday breaks just for different reasons. General skiing and Paris for Disney. I would be very surprised if Easyjet didn't look at the sun routes especially with the company focusing on building Easyjet holidays.

GVA and CDG are both operated for the benefit of EasyJet Holidays. Any expansion at LBA will follow the model we have seen at e.g. BHX, though that is a base. It means routes supporting the holiday arm, so I expect it will mean sunshine routes with likely duplication of existing destinations.
So which Easyjet Holidays destinations could be on the cards as I have never seen a list of where they operate?

I don't believe that is how it works. The night quota allocation is now issued by application through ACL, so unless an airline is making use of their "slots" year round then they will likely have to reapply each season.

First come, first served then.

I imagine they will be wanting to build up their relatively new package holiday business so in spite of the Jet2 dominance at LBA they may be tempted to test the waters even so. Lower prices than Jet2 would be a good start.
Won't be hard to undercut Jet2 prices!

Ryanair have a largish presence at LBA, too.
As they do at most UK airports.

Why does everyone presume if it does actually happen it might be Easy?…You never know, it could be Eastern 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Jet2 have had it too easy at LBA since the demise of Monarch. They need some proper holiday competition so EZY are the ones. Ryanair will contribute. If we could get a 2 aircraft base (even 1 would be nice) from TUI plus EZY plus RYR, plus the Turkish carriers, hopefully Jet2 are kept on their toes

Be careful what you wish for. There is only so much demand from LBA even it it was to pull % of passengers back from.

There is risk of fall out from saturation of markets - Turkey in this example. If you had Jet2, Tui, easyJet and Turkish carriers operating you would find that one drops the route; or others reduce frequency to ensure that there supply is meeting the demand.

I want easyJet here but they need to offer something different alongside the usual and welcomed suspects of Canaries, Mainland Spain and Balearics.

Whilst I agree @Sherburnflyer92 an operator with cheaper prices would almost certainly help claw back some of the leakage. Jet2 have proven the demand so plenty of room for competition that helps keep others on their toes. And I would suspect now that demand is proven, if one cuts back another could increase. That all said I again agree there is a saturation point

Totally agree.

The airport reported in their last annual accounts that 83% of their passengers came from Jet2 and Ryanair. It’s completely unrealistic to expect a business to commit to a £200m investment programme while remaining dependant on just 2 customers. They need to find another big hitter to add growth and realistically its only going to be TUI or Easyjet. TUI would be essentially a carbon copy of jet2’s destinations. At least with Easyjet there would be a mixture of seat only and holidays and the possibility of some city routes. But the main priority from the perspective of the airport will be to make sure whoever comes in is successful - and the best way to achieve that will be if the airline focuses on routes that have a lot of volume. And the airport is a long way from saturation on many high volume routes - especially turkey !

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
