Better Wizz than IPS. At least Wizz are proven to exist whereas IPS...who knows ?
Oh IPS exist. They are registered at Companies House and have a head office in London. They just have no aircraft, and apparently no UK operators licence based on earlier posts. That might yet change or it might not. Their copybook is well and truly blotted but they could yet make a come back. Whether LBA agree to a comeback here is for the future.

Well Jet2 & Ryanair happily lived with Monarch & TUi bases at LBA for 2/3 years. So i'm sure they will again as I think the is room in the market for with Wizz Air at LBA.

Saying that, my preference would rather it be Easyjet base, but that option doesn't look like its on the table at moment. Well not until the terminal extension is built.

Monarch Ryanair and Jet2 lived in harmony because monarch literally served high volume selling routes from LBA. What it knew it could fill and get good revenue for. Monarch did not offer anything additional or new to the airport. Agree they offered competition, in fares and customer service, but that’s about all.

Wizz Air have just canned CWL to become summer seasonal. Wizz air to Milan? Again I’d rather see someone more reputable such as EasyJet or Ryanair serve it. EasyJet would be my preferred 3rd carrier at LBA over wizz air. Any day of the week.

Not strictly true, as Monarch operated from LBA to Munich for a while, a new route for LBA at that time.

Monarch were great when i used to fly them from LBA to ALC, same high levels of customer service as jet2 but from what i saw they did seem to attract a better clientele of pax, monarch crew were always extremely friendly. The airline tapped into a market that suited passengers from the area known as the golden triangle from the northern leeds suburbs.

I've seen reports Wizz are cutting services in Cardiff stopping services to destinations including Alicante, Corfu, Heraklion, Faro, Larnaca, Lanzarote, Palma de Mallorca, Sharm el-Sheikh, and Tenerife (Source: BBC). The staff are being offered roles at other bases. Its supposedly a winter only move and they are blaming the economy as opposed to staff availability or handling at airports. Whether that has any bearing on any discussions (or not!) with LBA - who knows?

Well that's Wizz UK who recently quit DSA. Obviously not going well. In winter they only seem to be operating from LGW and LTN?

I would hope if there is any truth in the rumours about Wizz at LBA, it relates to Wizz Europe. We need more scheduled routes into Europe rather than yet more flights to the bucket and spade resorts.

There’s a good article on the ips saga on simpleflying.com
It's not that good. It's a copy of the T&A article with extras, and it contains the same inaccuracies, such as claiming that the IPS flights would have been the first ever link from LBA to Pakistan, and that the East Midlands flights has been scrapped in favour of LBA only. They are still showing East Midlands as a destination on their website.

The writer freely admits the source was the T&A. Yet another lazy journalist who can't be bothered to do research or check facts so the same falsehoods just get recycled.

Apart from that it was ok!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
