Getting a little boring now…. Can’t I come into the LBA section of this forum without having to read digs towards DSA.

The digs here are nothing compared to the number of digs LBA gets on the different DSA Facebook pages. Anyway the DSA lot will be happy once it reopens and gets it 50 plus plights a day to the likes of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, all using the A380, and to every airport in the US plus all the TUI, Jet2 and easyJet to the Med. And not to forget it never snows and the don't have fog or wind.

Whilst I agree talking about DSA on an LBA forum is probably not the right thing to do, and I agree is boring, I also believe as LBA supporters that we are entitled to fight back against the DSA brigade. As has been mentioned frequently that same brigade constantly knock LBA so it is only fair and right that we retaliate. Mind you they probably do it as they have nothing better to do with no planes to watch

@The Pole whilst I appreciate the sentiment and the intended logic I think history proves they ain't going to go away. They will blame LBA if DSA fails to reopen. I can assure you us LBA supporters are in a no win situation when it comes to the DSA brigade. However one area we clearly win is we have a fully operational and successful airport

May I recommend the DSA thread for all things DSA? I wouldn’t get too wound up by people slating LBA, the people don’t so mostly live in the Doncaster area and I can vouch for them that LBA isn’t the easiest to get to, so when they’ve had an airport on their doorstep that’s been taken away it’s perfectly understandable that they want that convenience back. The problem is that they don’t seem to understand or want to comprehend the fact that, for DSA to work, it will need to take passengers from other airports including LBA and because of that DSA needs to offer far more to airlines than the incumbents do. Doncaster as a city is just not an attractive market and there isn’t untapped demand.

The evidence from the last 20 years, that LBA is the preferred airport in Yorkshire for airlines, is far too strong for anyone to deny. Hence the mental gymnastics and lies about Peel. But don’t complain about people mentioning it on here, the business case for DSA is clear in its intentions to displace flights from other airports including LBA and it is therefore a talking point.

There is talk on the DFF regarding Emerald UK possibly basing at MAN to open up the UK domestic market. Not sure how much truth or possibility there really is in that but it could be to feed EI transatlantic.
So let's consider if it did happen and they went head-to-head with LM on some of their existing domestic routes f/t MAN. Would that change LM's position at MAN and equally could that then free up aircraft for operations East of the Pennines.
Ok its a long shot I know, but good to hear some sort of rumours at a traditionally quiet time of year.

I understood that Emerald had dropped plans to open a UK mainland base in favour of putting more capacity into Dublin this summer now that the passenger limit has been lifted (temporarily, at least). They had looked at quite a number of options but backed off. Also bear in mind that Emerald would need a brand under which to fly any mainland UK domestic activity: the Aer Lingus franchise will only cover routes to and from the island of Ireland. All probably do-able, but not straightforward.

Also led to believe that it will be late summer before LM has any aircraft capacity released for potential growth.

Our Route Opportunities feature explores the latest unserved and underserved routes promoted through Routes 360, providing supporting information for airline network planners to consider and capitalize on.

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA), the largest airport in England’s Yorkshire region, served 4.24 million passengers in 2024, marking a 5.8% increase from 2023, connecting them to more than 80 destinations across Europe and Africa through 10 airline partners.

The airport also recorded nearly 32,000 flights during 2024, a 6.2% rise compared to the previous year, as it works toward its goal of accommodating 7 million passengers annually by 2030.

Recent route successes include easyJet's expansion to Spanish destinations Malaga and Palma, set to begin in March 2025, following the launch of its Geneva service in January. Jet2.com has also bolstered its operations at LBA, adding a 15th aircraft to support expanded services to destinations including Majorca, Reus, Faro, Kefalonia, Zante, Bourgas, Rome, and Verona.

LBA’s Vision 2030 plan, supported by £100 in private investment, aims to enhance terminal facilities, improve runway and air traffic control infrastructure, and elevate the passenger experience. Phase 1 of the project is set to be completed in summer 2025.

As a member of Routes 360, the only digital platform dedicated to route development, LBA has uploaded multiple route opportunities to its profile. While actively sourcing new routes across the Middle East and Africa, the airport has recently shown interest in further European destinations such as Düsseldorf, Copenhagen and Istanbul.

I wish people would properly fact check information published, especially when it is purveying positive news. Canon fodder for LBA detractors. Only £100 privately invested in LBA VISION 2030 Plan. Come on LBA you really can do better

It is sad that people can not proof read stuff before it goes in the public domain these days! Where is under served airport? Is that in nowhere land?
I learnt early in my career to check work before submitting including reading emails twice to make sure it reads what you want to say not what you think it says for example reading words in your mind that aren't on the paper/text.
