As the Monarch thread is not open for further replies I will post my thoughts here. It is very easy to put 2 and 2 together re the need for building 2 extra stands this winter. If these are for a new ZB then both parties must be confident of success with the venture. That said, with LBA pretty much currently at capacity I am sure there will be no shortage of takers if they are not destined for the new ZB. The question then is are they going to offer some different routes as some of the most popular (e.g. PMI, ALC, AGP, TFS) must be getting close to saturation point ex LBA. Could they maybe try the likes of ATH, MAD, LIS with I am sure a spattering of mainland Spain, Balearics, Canaries, Turkey thrown in? Would expect FR to quickly react based on their current performance. Would be good to see some extra variety next year though with some Gold as well as some Orange. But it's all a big IF from where I am sitting but more than happy to be proven wrong.

As I have said on the Monarch thread, I feel this is just another Global Airlines…Going Nowhere. Hope I’m wrong but just like the new FlyBe that went nowhere.

I would have thought 'W' legs are more likely at first. At least these wouldnt eat into the night time quota.

No point opening a crew base at LBA if they were to only operate w-legs.

Also what’s to say they won’t be leasing Airbus A320Neo’s from Avion Express? That will solve the night quota problem..

Good point, but not to say they will base aircraft from the outset. It remains to be seen if the 321neo is exempt or not.

Cant see this being anymore then somebody fantasy/hobby like last time. If x2 more stands are being built, I can see FR wanting to base more AC with the amount of away based flying they do. Be good to see the Orange crowd get in, but if its for W24, then you'd expect airlines to have started selling the extra seats.

Does anyone really think we will get anything further from U2 for next year then? Certainly won't be a base (yet) but they have steadily increased BFS so seem committed so forever hopeful!

Which reminds me, on the subject of U2, I bought a U2 satnav at the weekend which is absolutely useless because "The Streets Have No Name" and "I still haven't found what I'm looking for"

I know nobody has asked but here is my realistic wish list for LBA within the next year or 2:

Ryanair: Paphos, Milan, Valencia, Madrid, Las Palmas, Berlin, Malta, Murcia
Jet2: Lisbon, Marrakesh, Pula, Venice, Athens
easyJet: Amsterdam, Grenoble, Geneva
Wizz: Vilnius, Katowice, Kaunas
KLM: Boeing 737-700,800,900 to be used.
BA: LHR
Loganair: Newquay
Eastern: Aberdeen
Blue Islands: Jersey (Year Round)
Aurigny: Guernsey (Year Round)
Turkish: Istanbul
Play: Keflavik
Aegean: Athens

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
