Can someone please explain to me why the most powerful military force on earth is seemingly unable to secure control of the Strait of Hormuz?
Thinking exactly the same sierra! Might sound a bit silly but surely the oil tanker ships could position nearer to the UAE and oman coastlines (obviously still a mile or so out due to water depth) and essentially a blockade or long line of US military ships to stop the iranians getting thru complete with missile drone interceptors in case it was an air attack on the oil tankers.
was watching an interesting programme where over the years they have looked at creating a huge canal like the suez that slices right thru the top of the UAE and Oman to avoid the narrow straight of hormuz but sadly due to a mountain range it would be a monumental task.

They might except for the fact their insurers wont take the risk. Especially with Iranian mines scattered around the strait.

Wasn’t LH always shutting city line down and folding some flights into main line operations? Cited by unions who were demanding better conditions. But fake news media love a scare tactic.

Air Canada cancelled JFK. Media will have you believe it’s down to this. Reality - better yield at LGA. NYC-Toronto is all about point to point traffic or Toronto connections which will be minimal given the very large hubs of Delta and American at JFK and United at Newark. But again. Fake news media.

Surprised on of these dipstick globalist owned journalist hasn’t dug out the full list of airlines that cancelled routes and blamed it on the crisis. Cause they love a good manipulation and to invoke anxiety. Lazy journalism. Lazy headlines. But top effort on all parts for been compete and utter wa**ers.

Further explanation by Lufthansa regarding the demise of CityLine. As others have said this could only be the start if the war continues for any length of time.

Yes apparently its all about the ships insurance, think we need to start drilling in the north sea abit more then
According to a mate of mine who works offshore in geology and seabed mapping it’s not as simple as that. I say that as someone who tends to agree with you, but it’s really not quite as much an answer to our potential problems as it might otherwise appear. I’m therefore a big believer in alternative energy sources now. How can we create a SAF network whilst transitioning land and sea based transport to more efficient energy?

Trying to read into that rather long statement provided by Len Fish it isn't as straightforward as was initially said. The removal if the City aircraft was part a cost saving exercise and part a solution to a dispute that seeminglly was causing problems. Whatever, it is cutting off a revenue stream which makes me wonder if, and it hasn't been said, if they were also not performing to expectations and they too were being removed from the operation due to economics. We will probably never know,

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
