I presume that a booking with BA/QR for LBA-LHR-DOH-BKK means that it's counted as one trip by the One World member airlines involved with the usual protections that apply.

However, if a separate booking is made, albeit by a One World Airline, for the LBA-LHR sector what happens if that sector is canceled on the day or severely delayed leading to a missed flight from LHR eastwards?

You make a good point LocalYokel for the Defence. However I'm not sure that the argument is sufficiently valid enough to warrant the sort of price differences being quoted. In any case any sensible traveler will have insurance which should cater for cancellations and knock on disruption. I prefer to believe that ridgeback provided the most plausible explanation, in which case the IT boys ought to being doing something about it if only to prevent traffic from going to other airlines.

Such lost business, in either scenario, is bad business for BA. Not really what they want is it? BA are probably not on their own in this instance. I'm pretty sure other airlines will be similarly hamstrung by their own IT systems. Caveat Emptor I say.

Quick report from a very hot Bangkok. Lovely lady at LBA thru checked my bags for me onto the Qatar flights...and they arrived here with me too! 57 pax on the Sunday morning flight down to LHR which was more than the 33 pax on my Dreamliner 787 flight to DOH with Qatar Airways! 777-300 flight then onto BKK with 83 on board!

Thru checking the baggage when flying on seperate PNR's is pretty good customer service. I am sure BA aren't obliged to do that even though you were connecting onto another One World member. Its service like that which keeps me going back to BA. Loads seem to be doing well at the moment down to LHR. The loads you describe on the Qatar sectors sound appalling - still, lots of space to spread out!

Off to Mauritius in November flying from LHR with Emirates. More tempted to use the train to get to London in this circumstance instead of flying owing to the variability and lack of assurity of winter weather at LBA, and how this could impact outbound and inbound flights to/from LHR.

Also off to Thassos in June (gulp….flying from MAN) but am redeeming myself by flying to BCN with MON from LBA in Sept.

Just booked Limoges return in August for my wife and I with Ryanair. Really needed to be in Bergerac but overall Jet2 were £200 more expensive than Ryanair. Shame, I used Jet2 last time and was really happy. Also booked LHR-LBA in July, would have been both ways but obviously no early morning flight. Also booked BA LGW to St Lucia in November, couldn't fly from LBA as caribbean flights all depart from LGW. Going LBA-LHR-VIE at end of this month.

Mauritius, I go there quite a lot on holiday and business too. I am sure you will really like it. November is best month to visit- it's nice and hot but the Cyclone season hasn't started.

Just returned from a quick weekend on the Algarve. Flew with Monarch....80 pax on the outward on Saturday and 109 on the return today. Both flights early with fantastic service and crew.

To Paris again next Monday on JET 2. Online check in is not available - transferred to free airport check in 'to allow for operational flexibility'. Not come across this before. Suggests it might not be the regular 733 equipment?? Back on Wednesday night on BA via LHR as JET 2 do not do Paris on Wednesdays - it was cheaper than rail - Eurostar and connecting East Coast service to Leeds!

I've just Booked for 13 Nov - LBA to Orange County, CA (SNA) using BA to London, then on with BA to Dallas (DFW) with American Airlines codeshare connection to SNA, return via same routing 02 Dec.

I've taken the precaution of flying to LHR on the afternoon flight day before the transatlantic leg with a hotel stopover, a) to avoid any weather problems either at LBA or LHR and b) to give me a relatively leisurely start to the main flight.

LBA-LHR BA A319, LHR-DFW BA 747, DFW-SNA AA 737

BA Fares very good, economy came out at £715 return, with LBA- LHR connection coming in at just £30 extra on the £685 return price shown from LHR-SNA (Although I've shelled out £300 more to go Premium Economy, which might enable me to upgrade to Club World using avios). I used the multi journey facility on the website to build in the overnighter and an earlier SNA departure to give a more realistic connection time in DFW on the way home.

Flew to Malaga with Jet2 beginning of this month.
This week flew Malaga to Ibiza with Ryanair, first time for years as they now have seat allocation. Both flights full and they applied to the full only first 90 passengers allowed cabin luggage.
Return to Lba end of month with Jet2, which they would put some cabin luggage controls in place.

Just booked Leeds to Tenerife with Ryanair 9th Dec-13th Dec for two no bags..£155.00 return, jet 2 same dates no bags £297 .

Jet 2 to Paris Monday was virtually full with only three or four emergency exit seats available. Monarch from Barcelona was unloading as we boarded - 121 on board. Came back from Paris via Heathrow on BA1344 tonight - looked to be around 70 on board.

Booked on BA to LHR in about a week's time for a business forum I'm attending in Windsor, returning the next day. Times work perfectly for when I need to be there and was cheaper (and much less hassle) than train with all the changes departing from my local station and in London that would have been needed. Only other alternative option within company policy was to hire a car, but the cost together with petrol and the need to travel the night before would have been even more expensive. Nice to be able to use the LHR service and legitimately justify to the company I work for, if needed, that it was the most cost and time effective option!

Will then be on the service again about 10 days later, for pleasure, flying LBA-LHR-JFK.

Just had a couple of days at CDG care of Jet2 (flights both ways were good). Heard you needed a "Pass" from the Police at CDG otherwise you would be moved on.
Applied for said pass, which is valid for 3 years (even better, it only cost a stamp to send the application off). Sat outside T3 next to the N/S taxiway, In T2C looking out the window and on the outskirts at the eastern end of the airport.
Guess what? I was never approached for any ID or pass. Weird or not?

Went down to MRS on business this week on BA. 92 of us on BA1341 on Tuesday morning. (I was dropped off on Warren House Lane at 07.33 and was in the lounge by 07.45!) Heathrow transfer T5 to T1 was reasonable but far from slick. Back on the 1344 tonight - around 125 on board. After a reasonable transfer on Tuesday, Heathrow was back to 'normal' (at least it seems when I am travelling) tonight. Landed late (after holding) at 18.00 and finally de-planed at 18.15. Although air bridge was attached, we had to go down the stairs and be bused to arrivals! After dashing heaven knows how far luckily caught the transfer bus to T5 just as it was leaving. Arrived at T5 to find only one Passport booth open in the transfers area which was 'all passports' A group of ladies with children were clearly having issues getting through. After ten minutes the queue behind was building with frustrated passengers sensing danger of missing their flights.Reinforcements were sent for and two further officers appeared and thankfully the queue started to move. All prepared at security check (again) but only two machines available to the 'transfers' queue and the operators were under training. Two speeds - slow and stop! Finally cleared at 19.00 when the gate for Leeds was due to close. Got to A2 at 19.05 with antiperspirant 'thermally challenged'. Fortunately being such a big load, boarding was only half way through so I made it. Landed at Leeds 20.22 and was outside the terminal at 20.31. BA were great on all legs of the journey but they deserve better than the shambles that is Heathrow.

hi golfFox
thanks for your LBA-LHR report,it sounds a bit hectic down at LHR.

Hi sm1,
Not really that busy in respect of the transfer lines - just a combination of issues combining together to create the problem. As I mentioned I always seem unlucky in this respect. . Connections within T5 are clearly better which is where I guess most BA passengers will transfer. I could use this service much more with an early departure!

Just booked Lba to Rome with jet2 in September and madrid via malaga in October again with Jet2. Using the Renfe high speed train malaga to Madrid.

I had a similar poor experience through Heathrow last year. You are right that BA deserve better but, as T5 is all theirs, there is plenty of scope to get involved and demanding. I flew into Manchester from Geneva with Easyjet a few weeks ago and the experience at both airports was an absolute disgrace. They did easyJet a real injustice. But what incentive is there for the airline to get on top of these issues as long as the planes are on time and making a profit?

Just booked me and 8 others on Thomson's Rhodes flight on the 19th July! I'm so glad I booked it and made sure it was from LBA! haha

Also me and 5 others are due to fly out to Zante with Jet2 in 2 weeks exactly! (25th June)

definitely getting my use of 737-800's this year! lets hope we have no diversions or runway restrictions!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
