hi yorkguy
thanks for the info re the pax on the shuttle up and down lba-lhr etc,the loads seem to have picked up.
regards
sm1 :good:

Yeah I agree. It seems that the pax load is averaging around between the 80-100 pax mark now, with a few flights been reported full recently as well. Let's just hope British Airways are happy with this routes performance and that the big advertising campaign initiated by the airport has helped get the message out to people across the Yorkshire region who didn't already know about the service.

Out of interest dose anyone know how the late BA1345 southbound is doing? As has been noted before this has been the weakest link?

The late southbound is a waste of time. It usually has between 10 and 30 on it. Last week one of the flights had 4 or 5 on board!

Im using ba to go to vienna at end of may. Unfortunately my ba connecting flight goes from T3.

Used the Jet 2 service to Paris this last week. Outbound on Tuesday and back Thursday pm. Extremely good loads both ways with only a few empty seats. Security was quiet at LBA so through outbound in a matter of minutes and inbound we were on one of the airbridges. All Immigration booths were manned and therefore cleared in no time! Positive experience.

my son just booked for Ibiza from lba 31st may ..two to start with but they will be more of them as this always happens.

Did LBA-AMS and back with KLM last week. Both ways flight was pretty full, so the Emb190 will be welcome here.

Was little worried about the fog on tuesday but got away no problems (although not much view!).

Just booked Jet2 LBA to AGP and then AGP to Ibiza with Ryanair and return to AGP for next month, a lot cheaper then doing direct from LBA and more choice.

Is it worth all the extra hassle Tarn Spotter? What sort of financial savings are we talking about for this convoluted journey? I know Jet2 have become too expensive but ..........

LBA/Bergen Sunday 4th May on Germania Charter for Hurtigruten. The flight/sailing cannot be full as they are now "throwing in" free flights with the cost of the trip!
My fourth trip "round the top" the previous ones being on two (powered! wheels.

Airforced: The overall package in both costs and timings makes it well worth while for us and does not involve any hassle in fact reduces hassle a great deal. Because of the limited daily flights using either Jet2 or Ryanair and going to our destination in Ibiza which is now has the most expensive hotel rooms in spain greater then Marbella, madrid Barcelona etc., our overall package save will be just short of £800 and not inconsiderable sum to me. 30% flight savings and 70% hotel savings.
WE use AGP as stepping stone to Seville, valencia, madrid, Ibiza etc. Allows us to use our local airport LBA rather then a trip to some other u.k. airport. Our return flights to Ibiza are less then 50 euros each, basically the same as our onward return cost to valencia. For Madrid and Seville we use the Renfe rail system, with the 60%+ discount and my Spanish over 60's rail card, madrid return was under 50 euros last time on the AVE high speed train.
Have now booked by Jet2 to AGP up to October 2015, taking the cheapest days in the month to fly, will now work on the onward part in Spain.

My son flew out to Barcelona with Jet2 this morning at 07.00. With 15 or so flights going out in the first hour of operation he said security and departures were heaving, and that he was probably the only bloke in there without a Stella in his hand at 6 am. He's coming back with Monarch as cheaper than Jet2.

Just booked flights to Bangkok on Sunday. Flying with Qatar from Heathrow but it was going to cost an extra £300 to book LBA-LHR-DOH-BKK. So I booked LHR-DOH-BKK and then the LBA-LHR separately saving me £175. Just means I have to collect my bags at T5 and get the bus round to T4...no hassle really.

This is a completely ludicrous situation which shows that the full service airlines are just as adept at ripping their passengers off with exorbitant hidden and unnecessary fares as the likes of Jet2. I encountered something similar when I booked through LHR last year. I'm sure that many people are now used to these rip off tactics from airlines and, like Markietg, book smartly but, equally, there will be many people who do not. This is bound to put them off using this sort of service when what LBA really needs is to bolster usage of this vital link.

I think that's a bit harsh Jimmi. Whenever I've looked at bookings for people the LBA add-on is normally about £30-£50 in total on an entirely BA booking. Very fair.

If there's an issue here it's with the codeshare nature of this booking being with 2 airlines which needs addressing and appears to be throwing an excessive charge up.

I wasn't aware that QR even codeshared to LBA yet tbh. I can't find LBA on their airport list on their website.

Ridgeback...I've just checked again for my flights tomorrow. QR website LBA-LHR-DOH-BKK £860.42
I booked on Thursday QR LHR-DOH-BKK £441.00 plus BA LBA-LHR £122.00....Total £563.00

I'm not disputing what you posted at all mark I just think that, on the whole, the domestic add ons are not heinously expensive nor designed to catch less savvy people than yourself out. Clearly the fare is wrong in your example and it needs sorting but I don't think it is sharp practise per se more a glitch between BA's systems and QR's. I hope so anyway as it is ridiculous. Hope you hv a nice trip.

It may seem harsh but it is totally justified. Aside from Markietg's example, my own trip through Heathrow last year was booked using all separate sectors in the local currency. Return flights to Prague on BA cost roughly £50 more on that occasion than purchasing two singles. The addition of an LBA sector at the time cost roughly £100. Again, booking separately cost about £70. Whichever way you look at it, that is a rip off as, clearly, the flights can be sold more cheaply than BA wish to advertise. I bet that, if I were interested in doing so, I would find many, many more examples of this flagrant profiteering. Similarly, there will be people who are not savvy enough to work around this and will find alternatives through the likes of Amsterdam or, worse still, Manchester.

I presume that a booking with BA/QR for LBA-LHR-DOH-BKK means that it's counted as one trip by the One World member airlines involved with the usual protections that apply.

However, if a separate booking is made, albeit by a One World Airline, for the LBA-LHR sector what happens if that sector is cancelled on the day or severely delayed leading to a missed flight from LHR eastwards?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
