Flying home on jet2 LS478 service from Gran Canaria to Leeds tomorrow afternoon. Hoping the weather plays nicely for our arrival. Been told we've been allocated Boeing 737-8MG, G-JZHO.
Can't you arrange to stay a bit longer?! You will definitely not like the air that rushes in through that cabin door when they open it tomorrow afternoon. It's 'orrible across here. Happy landings.

My first flight in a while was few weeks ago. Stavanger via Amsterdam (KLM). Loads good all round.

Booked BA flights to BKK ex LHR. Long wait to connect from LBA outbound and no connection till following day inbound. Hence flying from MAN. We really need a later return flight from LHR!

Just got back from 4 days in Brussels at a DHL pilot reunion.
I chose to fly from Manchester for a direct flight and used Brussels Airlines.
Excellent security and departure from Manchester and even better at Brussels on return.
Flight 90% full outbound on an Airbus A319 and full inbound.
Only hassle was having my bag taken from me inbound and put in the hold aka Ryanair I believe.
I was told it was too big to go in the cabin but for some strange reason it must have grown from when I checked it in the frame they use and also from the outbound leg when it seemed to be ok and went easily in the overhead locker.
Used a minibus operator to and from Manchester Airport who pick you up at your door and drop you back there for £36 each way for one or two passengers.
I love Belgium and wish we could have a regular flight direct so I could go there three or four times a year.
The recorded safety speech they use on Brussels Airlines is a bit like Southwest Airlines in the states and is very funny as well as having a serious side.

Agree with LBAYORKIE. In spite of the frustration sometimes of T5 and LHR I am sure a later arrival would have a very positive impact for BA in terms of increased loads.

Just thought id give a little low down on the recent bookings I've made for family members for this year:

Just had 4 days taking photos at Barcelona this past week. Outbound on Monarch and inbound on Jet2. Both flights were on time, friendly cabin crew and clear precise info from the flight deck.
I spent most of the time at the viewing deck on Runway 25R, everything that landed came past you. I will post a few when I get them sorted.

Just had a long weekend in Rome with the family flying out on Thursday's LS331 and returning on today's LS332. The 737-800 appeared to be totally full both ways unless I missed the odd empty seat. Both flights on time and great service from Jet2 as usual. At LBA the various improvement works were nice to see however a significant amount of scaffolding is now located around the gates on the lower floor, presumably supporting the area where the second floor will be extended with the new seating area. Hopefully this doesn't cause too many issues in the next couple of months as the airport gets busier.

LS331 from LBA to FCO was almost full this morning with just maybe 2 or 3 empty seats. Arrived at LBA at 5.30am so the drive was easy. Parked in the mid-stay which was relatively cheap when pre-booked (£40 for 4 days), and it's literally two minutes into the terminal. Check-in was very quick, and although security was busy, the delays were minimal. But our big mistake was planning to have breakfast at the airport. The airside catering offer at LBA is still very poor and restricted.

Went to Mauritius for a wedding lat week. Chose Emirates in the end (BA fly from Gatwick so no LBA connection) and from Birmingham via Dubai which was £200 a head cheaper than the similarly timed connecting flight from MAN. First time from BHX - some ingteresting 'creative' signage such as 'only 12 minutes queue from check in to security'. What it didn't say was that it was a further 30 minuutes to get through security with only 3 gates open! Someone at the same wedding who had travelled a couple of days before us on the same route complained that it took them 1 hr 40 mins from leaving check in to through security. On the way back, immigration was surprisingly quick with 10 'e-passport gates' that actually seemed to work for most people, but bag delivery was appalling. Again signage told us that the average 1st bag arrived in 14 minutes from gate arrival and the last bag in 45 mins. I'm not the type who would normally check - but - this signage encouraged me to do so. The first bags arrived in 32 mins and ours arrived in 50 mins. Most of the pax. were still waiting as we left so the bag delivery 'average' was missed by a mile on theis occasion.
Bus to the car park was efficient.
On balance a positive experience and would use BHX again - however - roll on the 'navigation enhancement' mentioned in the LBA master plan that will facilitate long haul flights (!!!) - would have been great to do this from LBA!!

Indeed. We can't even get an airline to commit to the much needed European and domestic links so I fear nothing more than a pipe dream for long haul, even if the facilities can accommodate the aircraft.

A bit negative from you finger 66 !
Will have to set the forum positive posts only police on you.
I of course agree and point out we could not offer the facilities a long haul operator would require at the moment if ever.

I know, I don't know what came over me! More a sense of realism than negativity though a300boy. Did post something much more positive in the LBA General thread so any hints of negativity didn't last too long so no real need for the positive post police to visit

Going to Madeira, 15th of next month, and according to the seat plan (42 rows) it's a B757. I thought they used the B738, I was hoping to fly in a new one.

Last summer they used the 757 on the route so I assume they'll make the switch when the Jet2 schedules ramp up once again on the 24th of April.

Just booked a few Ryanair flights for next month and June. A couple of trips over to Dublin then a few days in Pisa and Paris.
LBA-PSA 31May £14.99
PSA-BVA 3Jun £14.50
BVA-MAN 5Jun £25.00

When you are on a 757 and sitting at the back, you have to wait until all pax get off in front of you. on 737 you can use the back stairs. (whenever flown on 757, always used 2 front doors)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
