For those interested here is a report on my experience flying to and from Mahon with Jet2 - the return flight was today. I flew out on Monday 12th June on G-GDFX (737 800). Scheduled departure time was 0745. I arrived in check in at 0530 and it was packed, queuing to the door. Despite that, the queue moved incredibly quickly and I was checked in within 12 minutes. Although the airport was very busy I also cleared security within another 10 minutes and spend the rest of the time having a coffee and a wander in the terminal. Although the new seating area is not yet complete, seats were to be found. The flight boarded on time via the airbridge - lucky me. Departure was 10 minutes late due to ATC clearance, the aircraft full, superb flight and landed in Mahon 10 minutes early. Overall, no complaints whatsoever and a completely trouble free experience.
Today's return was on 737 800 G-GDFS, flown by one Cpt Richard Chadwick (for those who know of him). Check in was almost instant (arriving 2.5 hours before departure) and so was security. We departed 2 minutes early, and again it was a perfect flight - leaving aside the devil child sitting behind me and kicking the seat the entire journey. Landing at LBA was 30 minutes ahead of schedule. After landing, there was a 5 minute wait for the bus to start loading (Stand 16), another 5 minutes for them to set off to the terminal, but then, due to the arrival of the Berlin flight and Guernsey (which was a full ATR72 and slow to unload due, apparently, to the elderly nature of the passengers), our bus was held up with the doors closed for almost 15 minutes. There was some chuntering starting, but we cleared customs within 10 minutes and the bags were already going round on belt 1 when we got down into the re-claim hall. Despite the wait on the bus, the whole experience was OK. My friend, who is used to flying from Gatwick thought the overall experience at LBA was pretty good and far better than LGW - and she was mightily impressed with Jet2.

Did you not ask the parents to control the kid? 'Control your kid before i make sure your kid is controlled for you' sort of thing?

Have you seen that video in a supermarket where a little kid continues to bash a bloke legs with a trolley, bloke repeatedly asking the parent to control the kid, nothings happens so said kid gets covered in a full 4 pint of milk.

That's what you think WH ... :sneaky:
Tbh i've never understood why they chunter, would you rather be stuck on a bus for 15 minutes or stuck in a queue for 15 minutes.

She feeling alright with the LBA comment? She can use Jet2 from STN if she so wishes; i hope you made that clear.:sneaky: You know promote Yorkshires airline.

Sherburnflyer92, she lives in Surrey, so LGW is her airport and it is a fair trek to STN. Besides, she wanted to fly with me seeing as she was invited by me to spend a holiday there. However - regarding your comment, she was absolutely OK and adamant that the overall experience of flying through LBA was far better than any she had had out of LGW - and she also commented how friendly the staff were compared to LGW too. Perhaps we are far to ready up here to be critical and take the view that other airports offer a superior experience, when in fact, they don't? And yes, of course I asked the parents to stop their child from kicking the seat - in one ear and out the other. Some parents simply cannot control their offspring. Sad but true.

Flew out on Monday with Jet 2 to Berlin and returned lunch time today. Jet 2 checkin experience was perfect with no queue and all desks open at 15.30 on Monday, no queue at security despite a text from Jet2 to allow time as security was short staffed that day. Flight pushed back slightly ahead of schedule and arrived SXF around 30 minutes early. It was about 60% full. For all you critics of LBA, try SFX - originally built with 3 gates for Interflug in the former DDR - it makes LBA seem palatial - shame there's a brand new airport over the runway with no passengers in it as its opening has been delayed by a catalogue of construction issues. Return flight with 118 pax arrived 15 minutes ahead of schedule (outbound looked pretty full too) - bussed to terminal although only one bus instead of 2 so we were held on flight while a second bus was ordered and bags waiting for us. Out within 35 minutes. Overall did what it says on the tin and much nicer than SXF!

I flew on the 3rd june and the qeues for secuirty were bad the full length of the terminal , never seen it like that before!

Just come back from 2 weeks in fuerteventura with jet2. Went out on G-LSAE as G-LSAK was delayed inbound from ibiza........2 weeks later back on G-LSAJ both flights really good and smooth. 10 mins through security lounge and airport lounge was good value for money. Fuerteventura airport was spit on also....very good jet2 holiday

Flew down on the 1425 to Heathrow last Friday 07/07/17, quite a full plane - I heard the cabin assistant say 123 + 2 on board, back on Sunday's 1730 "evening" flight again pretty much full. On time both ways, spotless cabin, and at £92 return with a 23 kilo cabin bag allowance, the flight was significantly cheaper than the rail alternative at the time I booked about a month in advance. Well done British Airways.

Flew out of LBA on FR 154 Tue am on a full plane with bad weather having to hold for 15 mins at DUB. Then to EIN again on a full Ryanair plane. Nice airport but the walkways are uncovered as I found to my cost the following morning when flying to GDN on Wizz Air.
The new Terminal at GDN is very good, you are bussed on arrival but walk a short journey on departure. The Old Terminal is used for the UK & Eire flights (accessed via the new one). The flight back to LBA had only 104 pax although the Gate Stewardess said that there were usually 140/150 pax.
A nice 2 day trip partly spoilt by the amount of rain at DUB & EIN. (will post photos shortly).

I wonder if the locals at EIN complain about the uncovered walk-way as much as our locals do about our walkway, which actually has a roof?

I didn't hear of any complaints, I waited till everyone had gone out to the aircraft, then dashed, going up the front steps (even though I was seated at the back). What surprised me was that a lot of pax had taken their wet coats off and placed around the seat in front. What didn't surprise me was the applause from the passengers when we landed even though it was a "western" built aircraft only a few months old!

£92 return? That's extortion! I've had rail tickets for just over 70 return and that's for two adults

I was on that flight too, shame I didnt know as I would have said hello :)

Went with Jet2 to Verona last Wednesday, and back to LBA last night. Outward flight was full, and last night's inbound had 140 on board. We departed Gate 13 which is a fair old trek along the bus shelter to the portakabin for boarding, but otherwise the terminal experience was fine. In fact compared with the cramped shambles that is VRN, LBA has facilities to be proud of! Jet2 service was excellent as usual throughout, with efficient cabin crew and punctual timings.

I presume that on the return leg you were transferred back to the terminal by bus?

Yes, we were towed into the furtherest stand from the terminal, so bus transfer was provided.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
