Just booked me & 5 friends to go to Zante in June for a week with Jet2Holidays, first time using the tour operator and will be my first time on Jet2's 737-800 :)

Booked with Jet2.com to Malaga in March, May and October and with Jet2.holidays to ibiza as for the first time cheaper to buy the package then do it seperately. If we can sort out some family issues hope to do Malaga next month, but doubt Jet2 as will be booked 24hrs before departure or less.

I'm doing BA to Dubai in February and then BA to Chicago in April. The Dubai journey is a fair bit longer than doing Emirates from Newcastle which is how we usually do it but we like T5 so no problem to spend an hour or two there.

have a good trip.

Anybody else booked/booking a trip from LBA anytime soon? Is anybody tempted to use the new SAS service?

Thanks Snowman1
Just looking on the SAS website and it looks like the flights do not appear bookable during the summer. Can anybody confirm this? I hope I'm wrong

Looks like they finish on 27 Jun and restart 22 August. What's that all about then? I thought the flights were aimed at leisure not business, so in that case, the main leisure time, i.e. summer holidays there are no flights. Stopped just before the Tour de France!. Looks like they are stopping Humbersides flight as well for the summer.

Ap1995 - I am booked on the SAS flight for late August. I recall when I made the booking (which wasn't long after the route was announced) that July and the first half of August had no flights. The lack of these flights which you have noticed isn't a reflection of bookings, and has always been the case.

For those interested, we have just returned from ACE with Jet2 on the 737-800. Outbound load was 165, inbound 183, which I thought was pretty good considering it is January. I see Monarch have increased from 2x weekly this January to 3x weekly next January.

Just got my brother to book Jet2 from LBA to FCO rather than Ryanair from MAN to CIA. He didn't realise leeds had flights to Rome in March....

I also insisted he talked to the Thomson travel agent again regarding his summer holiday to Rhodes in June or I would!! The t***s were insisting they fly from MAN saying there were no flights from LBA!!

He's been back and it's now booked from LBA....

I just wonder how many fall foul of dirty tricks like this! :s_mad

My son used to be a manager for Thomas Cook, just remember their pay is commission led, no mileage in offering anything from Jet2 if Thomson operation, all the money staff can make is on the home offers, not sure Jet2 or many others now offer a commission to travel agencies, they dont need them, one of the reasons my son moved to an internet travel company.

So LBA787 are you saying your son is booked on Thomson's - Rhodes flight?
Why would they say that there is no LBA flight? Is it because more seats from MAN need selling?

hi there I have just phoned a good family friend and asked the above question.
they could be just plain thick
they could be on a override commission which means they get more from the operator to push flights from certain airports.

ps the friend is travel agent

AP1995 yes my brother is now booked on a Thomson holiday to Rhodes from LBA. I have no idea what went on in the conversations they were having regards holidays. I only know that for some reason they told them for their holiday they would have to fly from MAN as there were no flights to RHO from LBA.

It's sorted now but only because I had the knowledge to tell them. Most folks would just make do and be be booking their car parking at Manchester jet parks by now....

high lba787
just a add on to my last post
some times you may find that some hotels are not available from all the airports that the company depart from.

I walked into a travel agents in Horsforth many years ago to book on Thomsons Leeds to Malaga flight and was told they did not operate to Malaga from Leeds. I explained that a week before I had been the designated engineer who had been on the headset connected to the Thomson B737 that was operating Leeds to Malaga.
I was also present when a Bmi traffic officer was telling a passenger that no flight from Leeds to Amsterdam existed and he would have to fly via Heathrow. I challenged him afterwards and he told me it was company policy to only mention Bmi flights and not flights operated by other airlines. [ Air Uk flew 3 times a day Lba-Ams at the time ]

Just booked Lbia to Amsterdam return 19th-21st May with Jet 2 for a jolly to see old colleagues in Belgium.
£94 with hand baggage only.

I remember when Jet2 started up and they offered seats both ways for £1.00, how things change! Still £94 isn't bad at all.

Just back from my LBA to Dubai trip with BA. Flew out at 17.10 to LHR on Saturday Feb 15 with 65 pax - this service was delayed by over 90 minutes owing to the stormy weather down south - just made the T5 connection and amazingly so did the luggage.
Came back on the 19.05 from LHR last night with over 90 pax on board - around 35 of these were at baggage reclaim in LBA picking up long haul baggage.
The journey took a bit longer with the transfer than the usual route I do with Emirates from NCL but it was preferable to use a more local service. Long may it be.

Managed to book my brother on Ryanair LBA-ALC on the 13th April however he will be returning to EMA on Monarch with me on the 18th because they had a cracking price! Shame Monarch hasn't given ALC a go yet but still glad I managed to get him out of LBA instead of using MAN.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
