Typical BHX luck again, we had no 737MAX based in S19 but appear to bear the brunt and loose pax !

If it can go wrong it usually does, I think BHX must be the BCFC of airports :giggle:

Over the peak school holidays package prices are astronomical (I know as I have to pay them) and big profits are made so it's probably well worth subbing in an aircraft to protect those. Once September arrives the prices fall away and the yields most likely become marginal so it may not be economically viable to sub aircraft in for that period, especially if capacity at other airports is sitting empty.

Not great for BHX or for the paying customers but purely from a business perspective it kind of makes sense.

If BMW* made aircraft....... :)
*Apologies to anyone on here who drives a BMW, I am sure that you do actually park responsibly.

I always park my BMW in the bays!!! (y) At least if you parked next to a 737 Max, you should have no problem finding the car, mind you imagine the insurance claim if you dinged the Max!!! :ROFLMAO:

I believe TUI UK have 9 Max's stored, 5 at Manchester, 1 at Tenerife, 1 at Boeing Field, and 2 at San Antonio

Boeing Field must be full up with all the stored Max's! :ROFLMAO:

No information is useless you just don`t know when you are going to need it, how often have you thrown things away
and the next day wish you hadn`t

another good day for TUI today....

B789 G-TUIM operated Malaga & Dalaman today, subing for B738 G-FDZD that postioned out to Norwich

then B738 G-FDZF had a tech issue at BHX in the morning so the Ibiza flight was delayed almost 16 hours, (imagine the scenes in the terminal, knowing the type of holiday makers on this flight!! :ROFLMAO: ), finally departing on replacement B738 G-TAWI that postioned in from Manchester!!

TUI Airways UK last week added Boeing 757 service on Birmingham – Bodrum route, scheduled to operate once a week. The 757 aircraft operates from 09SEP19 to 29OCT19, replacing 737-800 and leased Airbus A321 aircraft.

TUI Airways UK during winter 2019/20 season plans to increase capacity on Birmingham – Verona route, with the scheduling of Boeing 757 aircraft. The 757 will operate once a week from 28DEC19 to 07MAR20, replacing 737-800 aircraft.

Query! Have those B757 been recalled to service? I read somewhere that they had been sent to St. Athan for disposal , having reached limits on airframe flight rotations etc., I may of course be totally wrong,.......

TUI aircraft go to St Athan for maintenance with Caerdav and end of lease maintenance.

Thank you Jerry. I was thinking of the retired B767 fleet of BA going to St. Athan prior to transfer to Victorville and oblivion. However it seems there is plenty of work for the 757s whilst the Max fleet remains grounded.

In general most of the BA aircraft that go to St Athan get scrapped at E-cube latest type is the A319s.

The Tuesday Malta (operated by Air Malta) has been taken off sale next summer. Bristol has also lost its flight.

Not too much of a loss with Ryanair adding flights to MLA, but disappointing to lose what is (in my opinion) one of the best liveries out there.

sad to see another airline going, Air Malta have always had a long relationship with Birmingham, I suspect we may see more changes from TUI for next year, especially when the plan was for all 757s to be retired and replaced by the 737 Max's, guess thats not going to happen now!

It must be a glitch as there are no UK to Malta flights next summer by tui. In the case of brs they were using tcx . I can’t see tui dropping Malta from the summer programme

Here is the story from Ians post

TUI adds millions of seats following Thomas Cook collapse

TUI has added an additional two million seats to holiday favourites including Turkey, Greece, Balearics, Canaries, Egypt, Mexico and Florida.
Sticking with its commitment of offering more flexibility and choice for its customers, TUI will offer more seven-, ten-, 11- and 14-night durations and even more flying from popular airports including Manchester, Doncaster Sheffield, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow to its unrivalled range of hotels.

Alongside its commitment to provide holiday packages, TUI Airways will create jobs for over 100 pilots and over 200 cabin crew.
Andrew Flintham, managing director TUI UK & Ireland, said: “At TUI we’re committed to offering outstanding holidays, flown from local airports to popular holiday hotspots.
“The customer is at the heart of everything we do and this additional growth demonstrates our continued commitment for people to discover their smile with us.”

The news comes following the collapse of rival Thomas Cook. Dawn Wilson, managing director TUI Airways said: “We are delighted that our additional flying allows us to grow our team of ‘moment makers’ at TUI Airways. “Every year we welcome new cabin crew and pilots and this year is set to be our biggest and best yet.
“I’m particularly proud to be able to commit to offering over 50 Thomas Cook captains the opportunity to join TUI Airways and continue to fly customers on their holidays.”

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
