Totally forgot about that one. Hopefully at least one or two of these will actually come to fruition?

I was thinking of The Hub.

Oh that one. I had forgotten about that! Between us we may recall them all.

Their website in unavailable at the moment. What a contribution that would make if it was built.

Yesterday to avoid the M6 tailbacks a I was driving back from Wales, I cut through Wolverhampton to Birmingham City Centre.

We stopped at the lights at the base of the Octagon. Now I have to confess that it is a building which I have been pretty ambivalent about, sorry BrumX. But having seen it topped out (the clouds nearly touched the top) and close up, I was mightily impressed. An extra 10 floors would have sent me wild but alas...

What I did notice is the old Cambridge Street multi storey car parked wrapped in sheeting, I assume ready for demotion or demolition is underway so that the Octagons near twin, Centenary Tower.

One Eastside looks very powerful compared to the elegance of the Octagon.

It is about time someone did something with Five Ways Tower. Ridiculous.

I get up that often, but the city looked great despite the rain.

The Octagon ;-)

A great night at St Andrews @ Knighthead Park

full

The new owners are certainly making a difference and have certainly changed the mood in the blue half of the City and are definitely backing up the talk with actions.

After endless disappointments from the 1960s onwards with a few bright spots ( mainly TF) I think we finally have real hopes for the next few years however this is the Blues we're talking about.

What a great team, thanks everyone

A big thanks to today's special guest, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice | Member of Parliament for Birmingham Ladywood @ShabanaMahmood
, for joining us at our monthly litter pick! We had a record turnout and filled 31 bags – incredible work, thanks so much everyone!

FYI I am the tall one stood behind Shabana in the door way next to Liberal Democrat councillor Izzy Knowles. :)

Like the backdrop to the stadium, everything is reaching for the skies at the Blues.

To be fair, Villa doing well, Baggies could be in line for promotion. Walsall firing on all cylinders...shame about Coventry and Wolves!

This is brilliant. Well done everyone.

We need more of this. With councils so financially constrained and simply unable to keep up if every neighbourhood did their bit it engenders civic pride, trust and friendship.

It may be a busy skyline construction wise in Birmingham but it has been a bit quiet when it comes to new schemes. So it was refreshing to see this today:

New 29 storey positive energy building at Gas Street. Bring it on.

That’s a cracker. It looks like some cladding is still missing, though. I suppose those bits are where the crane was attached?

Joe Lycett: the best of Brummie can get

Looking forward to episode two of the United States of Birmingham on Tuesday. Sky One at 9.00 pm.

Drove past on the M6 when taking my daughter to Uni. The skyline is looking incredible from Spag Junction. The old BT Tower is insignificant now and you cannot see the Alpha Tower at all.

Exciting place. Best city of the planet.

Just sorting out the bin strike please. Everyone down here has sympathy for all Brummies at the moment.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
