Do we know about this one?

I did update the forum back in the summer, however it is another big digbeth proposal. To date not one single "big" proposal has got out of the ground in this part of the city apart from a couple of 3 storey blocks.

Digbeth is like one of the ugly sisters and it's redevelopment cannot come quick enough, but where are all the cranes ???

Are they waiting for HS2, Are they waiting for a Brexit deal, Are they waiting for the new proposed hollywood studio;s that Steven Knight keeps barking on about and again nothing to see or Are we waiting for Covid to pass ??

Either way they had better get a move on, otherwise I may not see the redevelopment of this part of the city, oh and btw I am 44 🤣🤣🤣

However with a sense of "caution" I have been informed that a development called Lunar Rise at the top of Deritend is to begin in January 2021 and contractors are in place so one possible big one to look out for in the new year, we shall see ??

This is the development if nobody can remember, lol as it's been such a long time since the proposals were given consent a few years ago.

Great to see that work has commenced on the Eastside extension of the Metro to Digbeth.

This is the line that will eventually extend through Bordesley Green and on to BHX. It will pass fairly close to my house so if it gets completed in my lifetime I'll definitely use it.

It would be nice for a line to airport but would it be used by airport passengers or locals just crossing the city? An arriving person might wish for rapid access to city hotels or other venues so is the tram quick or safe enough of will the HS2 link cover it with the Curzon line?

Passengers arriving at the airport would find it quicker to use the current services than the metro, but the metro is more about connecting those suburbs of Birmingham between the city centre and the airport to either of those ends (if that makes sense).

So 5 years to build 1 mile of track, so based on that calculation how many years approx will it take to get to BHX ????? You said in your lifetime mate ??? 🤐🤐🤐

There was an element of sarcasm in the 'my lifetime' comment 🙂

I'm hoping that if/when it gets to the suburbs work may be a little quicker than it is in Central Birmingham.

I have a feeling that once it's extended to Digbeth the focus may then turn to another city centre extension with the suburbs pushed down the list.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
