Being reported on BHX and EDI forums that Wizz have removed the intended new routes to Tirana. Wonder if all current advertised are a contributory factor to that? And I hope that turns out to be a positive move to redeploy aircraft where others may need to be taken out of service due engine checks, generally reduce cancellations/delays rather than a "necessary" cost cutting exercise

Sorry missed the word problems out after the word advertised. No edit button again

Apparently also add LPL to that. Seems to have got people a talking as they say.......

I would doubt adverse media coverage would be a significant factor, probably just poor bookings.

On a more positive note, the BHX thread suggesting the Orange boys have an opportunity to boom at Wizz’s expense. So in the almost complete absence of the Orange boys at LBA perhaps that’s a good market for Wizz to jump on and deter the Orange brigade and make an even bigger success of their current LBA operation

Not necessarily as that would require a base which on top of any Wizz reluctance, LBA doesn’t have space for.them. Plenty more Wizz Hungary could do, including frequency increases on the current routes
They could operate to Vilnius for starters. We lost a really successful route when Ryanair fell out with the airport group that runs Vilnius and Wizz have a base there. If they carried the loads that Ryanair carried, I'm sure they would be happy but still no sign of them picking up the slack.

Sorry to burst your bubble but not without using foriegn based equipment as LBA doesn't have the night slots to make a Leeds base viable unless something changes.

Now, where we're we, ah yes, the Leeds Wizz Air thread.....!

That old chestnut! We are discussing Wizz as a whole here so would be wrong in any of the individual Wizz threads. Also believe my post #185 clarifies my thoughts re a base - or not as the case will be. Apology accepted in advance...........

I wouldn't totally right off a possibly Wizz Air (UK) base here at LBA if they use the Airbus A320neo and A321neo in the future once the terminal redevelopment is completed

Also looking at the LGW & LTN bases Wizz Air aircraft tend to go out overnight on long runs so they don't have many night stoppers..

Wizz Air's Airbus NEo aircraft problems seems to be effecting it's LBA services as we have a few cancellations appearing over the next few months.

Bucharest = Sun flight axed, service reduced from 4x to 3x weekly (Mon, Wed & Fri) during October 2023.
Cluj Napoca = Wed flight axed, service reduced from 3x to 2x weekly (Mon & Fri) during September & October 2023

All other routes remain unchanged, whilst the planned winter 2023/24 schedule programme remains fully intact for now.

Lets hope this is a Neo aircraft problem and not a reduction in flights by Wizz, fingers crossed on this one as from all reports we seen and heard Wizz are more than happy with their operations out of Leeds.

Wizz have publicly said that from September, they will have aircraft shortages due to engine inspections with resultant cancellations of flights across their network as, no doubt, they move unaffected aircraft around to cover the NEOs that are in dock. I'm sure that this is just temporary.

Other airlines using the troublesome P&W GTF engines are also cutting back services from September as a major inspection programme begins. Apparently this entails removal of the engine from the aircraft and disassembly, not a quick job. The alternative engine, the CFM Leap (as ordered by Jet2 for their forthcoming fleet) is not affected.

Bear in mind the Romanian government are incentivising their ex-pats to return home permanently so that could have a part to play.

I would have thought with LPL losing Cluj that it would not have been one of the routes to suffer ex-Leeds.

A few Wizz Air (Hungary) cancellations have started to appear on the LBA routes into Poland for a 7 week period from November 1st to December 13th 2023. Good news is that both routes resume normal service as from December 20th..

Gdansk - Wed flight axed, Service reduced to 2x weekly (Mon & Fri)
Katowice = Wed flight axed, service reduced to 2x weekly (Mon & Fri)

I received an email this morning telling me my KTW-LBA flight on the 1st Nov has been cancelled. They rebooked me on the next available which was on the 3rd Nov which was no good for me as I need to be back in work on the 3rd. Quick look online and I saw they have a KRK-LBA at 0530 😳 on the 2nd. Rang the call centre and was waiting for a full 90 seconds. Lovely chap changed my booking, plus gave us complimentary extra legroom seats and baggage as an apology for the disruption.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
