Re: Arrivals - Departures information.

I have lost count of the number of e mails I have sent to the airport (both my contact there, and the 'contact us' section of the airport web site), notifying them of these issues. They always respond by saying they will notify their IT people, yet nothing ever happens, so presumably it is the IT people who need to be shown the door! These are not new destinations - we have had Bodrum, Olbia, and Bridgetown for several years now whilst Jeddah has also operated for a year or two. In fact, I am fairly sure that some of these have been shown in the past, but now are not. They all show up OK on the Ceefax arrivals and in the airport - it is only the web site where this problem occurs. If I was the airport MD I would be furious that our only direct services to the carribean are not even showing up on the departures board.

In addition, ever since the Ryanair flight to Limoges started, it has been spelled incorrectly, but this time on the Ceefax pages - spelled Linoges instead.

However, I am always ready to do battle over this so will send another email to the airport MD's secretary and will also try to mention it at the next consultative meeting.

Re: Arrivals - Departures information.

I wrote to the airport today and have had a response back saying they have identified the problem and re-instated the necessary information to ensure that Bridgetown and Olbia are OK in future. I have reminded them also that Bodrum was a problem during the summer. They have confirmed all is OK for New York and, for some reason, Geneva, although I never mentioned it and was not aware of any problem on that route.

It would seem that the IT system has to show the airport identifier code for both IATA and ICAO for the destination airport to show up, and in some cases only the IATA code is input, the result being a blank on the airport web site.

Now they know what the problem is it should be easier to ensure this stops happening, and if it does, easy to put right. It doesn't appear to be retrospective though as Bridgetown is still showing a blank at the moment. Hopefully the return flight will be OK. I get the feeling that this was down to people putting in the airport codes who didn't know that both the IATA and ICAO codes were required.

The response from the airport was both quick and helpful and I was copied into the explanation from their IT people.

Re: Arrivals - Departures information.

Hi

Looks like another destination is missing from the LBA website. As Thomas Cook, are to operate a private charter somewhere tomorrow as TCX771G departing at 10:00 with the destination been blank as usual.

Hi

The latest update status on the official LBIA facebook page seems to indicate that something my be happening regarding the website with-in the next week or so.

Well, we have something pretty dam big to announce next week within the digital realm of the airport, and there is also a very exciting promotional event coming up with more news to follow this week!

LS16 has been banging on about a new website all summer so hopefully you're right. A website for any company is like a shop window and for the last few years the LBA 'shop window' has looked like a charity shop rather than a Marks & Spencer. The arrival of much needed new official airport website will be very well received all round.

I noticed Orlando Sanford came up on the arrivals board the other day, so at least that's in the system.

All this fuss about a blinking website that a school leaver could sort out in few days.It ain't rocket science.
The never ending delay says something about the planks running the airprort.

The information I have from LBA is that the new web site is due to go live at the end of the month, although it isn't totally clear whether that means end of November or end of December. The report was written in November, so hopefully it will be up and running in the next week if there are no last minute hitches. Either way, it would appear that it is not too far away now.

(Trying to look at this positively wawkrk  ) If you take into account branding changes that will need to be introduced with the new website it would take longer than a few days to sort out. I am guessing that the launch of the new website will also be the launch of the new LBA brand so there will have been a lot of behind the scenes work to ensure the launch runs smoothly. We live in hope.

Latest update on the LBA facebook page http://www.facebook.com/OfficialLeedsBradfordAirport seems to indicate something may happen later this week or early next week as somebody asked the question as got the following answer

Quote from poster = HI LBA - any news yet on the digital announcement?

Quote LBA = Afternoon...As of yet I cannot announce anything! A few more days to wait Im afraid! ;)

Now I wonder if they LBA are waiting an announcement by a certain airline next week. The airline who's Boss is in Yorkshire doing a lunch speak in York next Thursday, December 2nd 2011.

Well its good to see the following on the LBA live Departures page. At least it's showing its inteaded destiantion instaed of the normal blank..

LS87 NEWARK - NEW JERSEY 0900 CHECK-IN OPENS AT 06:00

I Just hope this gets away ok instead of having to operate it from another airport or even canceling the trip all together due to the heavy Snow we are experiancing just at the moment.

It did get away OK, although a couple of hours late. This is one I knew would show up OK as the airport confirmed to me a couple of weeks ago that they had put the relevant airport codes in to make sure it came up on the live arrivals/departures.

New website goes live today (apparently :coco: ) I'm informed it comes with a huge Christmas gift. ;)

That's on the website. The FIDS show it as New York Newark.

Newark airport:
Technically it is in New Jersey and not New York State although only about 15 miles from New York. It is owned by the Port Authority of New York AND New Jersey. However it is thought of as one of New Yorks three major airports and so listing as New York on the dep board would be helpful.

Exactly, and what about London Gatwick? Leeds Yorkshire? Manchester Cheshire.

what time is the new website going to be launched ? hopefully the huge xmas gift will be a big batch of new routes :good:

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
