GDFO been sat on the ground sine the 22nd….last flight was LS272 ALC-LBA.

Has she gone tech again?
Believe so couldn’t see it on the ramp on Tuesday so assume its been taken to multi flight hanger for work done.

GDFG was sat around and hasn’t flown either so don’t know if it’s tech as well or got planned maintenance

Does just make you wonder if, and it is an if, Jet2 may have to revisit their lifespan intentions for these remaining 733s as they seem to be starting to give them a few headaches - or at least 1 definitely is, so is this a sign of things to come with the others. Or is it just wishful thinking on our part that they may disappear sooner rather than later

They should send them all to Bournemouth!

And then in many years time just like the jet2 B757s we used to have here at LBA, we will be wishing we had the classic B737-300s still, appreciate them whilst there still here. In fact how many other airlines and airports still regularly see B737-300s?
Aww go on then. Keep a couple here and send the rest to Bournemouth. As long as we can pick the ones we want. One in mica and red and one in Holidays livery will do. The 300s will better suit Bournemouth's terminal capacity.

Is this a record for in service Jet2 Boeing 737-800's working out of Leeds/Bradford?

It would seem Jet2 currently have up to 11+ Boeing 737-800's operating out of Leeds/Bradford in service this evening along with just 2x Boeing 737-300's.
Normally it should be 8+ Boeing 737-800's and 5x Boeing 737-300's in service...

Thank you. Plenty of the newer 800s too which is nice to see. Presumably a school holidays capacity increase?

No definitely not the case @White Heather

3+ Boeing 737-300 rotations have been changed this evening with the EXS265/266 Malaga, EXS289/290 Palma & EXS439/440 Dubrovnik all been operated by replacement Boeing 737-800's for some unknown reason.

The LBA base should consist of the following 15+ aircraft
5x Boeing 737-300 = In active service
1x Boeing 737-300 = Spare back up
8x Boeing 737-800 = In active service
1x Boeing 737-800 = Spare back up

I'm going to stick my head out and say the it must be Tech/reliability issues with the Boeing 737-300's. Especially with at least 4x airframes parked up at LBA doing nothing tonight in the middle of height of summer season. That can't be good?

4 of them are tech with 3 of them in the hanger GDFO, GDFK, GDFG

GDFT was tech but has since been towed to a main stand for tomorrow so must be fixed

Edit 26/7 GDFK is now out of the hanger and returned to service operating this afternoons Faro flight

Thanks for the update @CM.

For the Boeing 737-300 fleet that's not a good situation to be in, and explains why all these extra Boeing 737-800's are appearing...

So one or more of those 3 going tech doesn't even near thinking about. I know we seem to be posting negativity around the 733s just now but are these tech issues just starting to become a bit too commonplace now? Also appreciate some of the 738s haven't exactly been exempt either this year

Sorry that should have read bear thinking about

Everyone keeps saying “yes but they are paid for” true but after all the big maintainace jobs they have had and still going tech you have to think enough is enough, rack em and scrap em and buy some decent 10 year old 738’s.

Think our football club need to buy some decent 10 year olds too. Can't be any worse than what we have bought so far!!

But back to Jet2 yes is it now becoming a year too far for the 733s? Sure Pegasus have some more young 800s that they would be willing to offload

Depends what you mean as just missing a lifejacket renders an aircraft tech along with many other minor things.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
