Depends on what you mean as just missing a lifejacket renders an aircraft tech along with many other minor things.
So….. let's take GDFO as an example….went for a big maintenance job in Dublin not too long ago, had problems since it came back into service and now still sat doing nothing in the hangar.
These big services (as I call them) are just like old cars….engines are fine, brake pads are fine but look deeper into older compressors, pipes and the amount other things on an aircraft which as so complex. Doubt they are short of lifejackets 😂, a simple thing like that won't have any aircraft if it sat on the tarmac for 4 days, obviously far more serious than that. GDFD is the same….sat on the tarmac not making any money…but as they say, no big deal as they are paid for.

I'm being bombarded by Jet2 marketing shots on a daily basis. Extra free child places and discounts in August are unheard of.

As I said last Friday, my friend was on the afternoon flight to FAO on a 733 and he said it was about 50% full…this is the end of July remember.
Jet2 need to be very careful…..ordered so many new Airbus A321’s. Too much emphasis on package holidays….they started as a seat-only airline which propelled them to where they are now. Look at Ryanair…seats on bums, no frills and in the main planes loads are on average 90% .
Look at the great airlines of the past connected with package holidays who went to the wall….too many to mention

Just as well then that Jet2 have made huge profits . If the package holiday market starts to struggle, they will hopefully start to make the flights more attractive ( and all available to) seat only passengers again. This was their bread and butter until 2007 but it feels as though these passengers, which would include myself, are now not a priority.

Perhaps the airline should reconsider their Friendly Low Fares strap line in the meantime as they can no longer be generally be regarded as low fares.

Missing a life jacket doesn’t put them into a hangar either. It must be a technical problem of some sort that put 4x of them in there yesterday and 2x G-GDFG, G-GDFO still remain there this evening

As it was touched on a few posts back, for whatever reason people have changed their habits and they are currently booking later. This isn't just Jet2 but industry wide. I know two families who have only just booked for the summer school holidays. Whether they are waiting for deals, or it's to do with the cost of living, is anyones guess. For airlines like Jet2 and all the other leisure airlines, it must cause a huge headache not knowing whether extra flights should be laid on. What I do know is my recent flight was full or almost full and the airport was very busy.

Another great airline owned by Intasun Holidays which had a big office in Bradford…flew with them back in 1985 to Cran Canaria….sadly long gone.View attachment 31011

Intasun being one of my former employees during my early days in travel. Think Air Europe ended up following the wrong path of scheduled services which was what helped bring about their demise. So bringing the thread back on topic I hope Jet2 recognise quickly anything that doesn’t quite seem to be working (aka 733s lol). Tbf to them they haven’t got much wrong during their history

LS420 has just flown over Woodlands cricket club (near Cleckheaton), landing gear down, looks to have done a missed approach and into a circuit.
It’s G-GDFK, a 733….
Now landed

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
