I am with you all 100% and I believe Look North should be challenged...where were the residents in NW Leeds, the vast majority like me, who could not care less about the noise, and welcome the fact the airport is busy and growing....look at Donny residents and how they fought for their airport....and for that matter I am getting more angry at how Look North supported DSA case for survival! Could we send a collective message to the Look North Editor demanding answers?

The problem with a collective voice is we don't have a spokesperson who is prepared to take on the BBC if asked.

The problem is that we cannot challenge the claim that LBA exceeded the night flying quota. The investigation outcome is not yet available .

My beef with the BBC is that they know this, yet once again, they are giving air time to a group whose sole purpose in their miserable lives is to kill LBA any way they can for purely selfish reasons. Giving them that air time in the current circumstances is about as far from balanced reporting as you can get, and it's not the first time either.

Tomorrow sees the start of British Summer Time, so, it would seem that every departure between 0600 and 0700, and every arrival scheduled for 2300 or later, will count towards the 2800 night movement limit. There are 6 tomorrow/early Monday morning for starters. The anti airport mob will have something to keep their sad lives occupied again.

Nail hit on the head. Let's hope that the preceding wind is favouring 14 and not 32. Cannot wait for the whole "I swear they get earlier every year" mob to start on the FB local community groups and them endlessly complaining about the airport. When a simple solution of "well if you don't like it move" is put to them they loose their stuff.

We already have one as our members collectively form the #LBASupportGroup but we don't have a spokesperson unless you are volunteering??

Well I hope they're not counting those Max aircraft.

They will have to until such time as the Planning Officer agrees that they don't count. That's an ongoing debate.

I have little doubt they shouldn't count, but that the Council will be very wary of the inevitable backlash from the enemy if/when it's agreed. This isn't really about noise. Or the environment. They are simply excuses used by a group who apparently simply want rid of the airport.

Look North: pointless report in reality. Outbreak of bird flu in Timbukto would have been more interesting. On a serious note, the local labour candidate for May elections listed in his 1st flyer (ha ha) that he would not fly for 10 years. OK but his update leaflet this week leaves out that pledge. I look foward to dicussing with him the position of Yorkshire familys who face a 30 hour train/ferry/train journey to visit families in Scandinavia.
Presumably I should emigrate. Oh well..................

Cancel your tv licence, only way they will get the message. Yet gb news this morning had simon calder talking about new routes from numerous uk airports and massive passenger demand haha yet seems the bbc want LBA shut!

Exactly, there's no news, which is why it's very clear that the BBC (or their transport correspondent) are happily providing GALBA with a way to spout their negativity at a time when it's clear that neither LBA nor the Council will make any comment. Therefore, the report was entirely one sided and imbalanced.

The BBC need to ask GALBA why, if they are so successful in opposing LBA, after objecting to the new super green terminal and airport expansion they’ve ended up with a far less green airport terminal extension and still an expanding airport.

We really do need somebody to stand up to be a public spokesperson for the group, so that we can get our voice heard more..

It's not as if aircraft are that noisy these days. When I first became interested in aviation in the early '70's. it was Comets, B737-200's, One-Elevens, DC-9-10/30's, B707's, VC-10's etc. These had an absolutely ear splitting roar and crackle to them. Today's jet aircraft make a soft 'buzz'. In comparison, a couple of nights ago someone was accelerating a motorbike up and down the High Street (I live about 1/4 mile away). It was far more annoying than the military jets that I get, going into RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall.

However, the report this week was entirely noise related - it barely mentioned emissions or climate, if at all. The woman interviewed in Headingley complained only of being awoken by planes

I have long held the view that this anti LBA group, like the last one, are NIMBYs of the highest order - and simply hide behind Environmental issues to suit their entirely selfish agenda.

There is no climate advantage to travelling to other airports to get flights. The message has to be to fly from your local airport, wherever that may be.

Its a well written report, and you have shown how new aircraft are bringing noise and emissions down. Just one question on the number of destinations served. You say 70, and I thought LBA was at 80+ this summer season?

@Jetchaser I believe that 80+ includes the winter seasonal routes and Jet2citybreak charters
