Could do with someone doing a sanity check on the arrivals board.

Interesting leaving it to an old database lookup

I'm sick of reporting this issue to LBA. Nothing changes. It's happened repeatedly with various airlines.

Play the Trades Description Act card?

If a Peruvian Dash 8 doesn't show up on Saturday then get Trading Standards involved! :)
I wrote about this last night, this time to the LBA CEO. I dont think that LBA actually own the system that causes this issue so perhaps they are as frustrated about it as some of us are, but we will see what happens this time!

I know this has been brought up several times but I actually think it is disgraceful.. third party company or not, the website spitting out random airlines like this for over a year / more? how unprofessional does it look? if I was an airline CEO I wouldn't be best pleased. LBA should stop paying such third party company for very inaccurate work.

Absolute comical post on the DSA PAGE that all the lets just say thick DSA supporters are jumping on Re LBA and other airports in the north struggling with the weather yesterday.. and airlines should relocate to there.. well for starters how can they relocate to an closed airport? :) and for seconds.. these airlines have had 17 years to do so and never bothered/couldn't make it work..

How much better DSA would of faired yesterday.. I didn't know Doncaster didn't get any snow yesterday?

I saw at one post regarding MAN A380 circling and divert that DSA could of handled it.. don't make me laugh. absolutely not.

Non educated and Lord Chadwick approving the post so LBA/MAN/LPL/NCL can get a bashing because beloved DSA would of handled it so much better.

Shame there is no aircraft to even get out of bed to clear the runway for.

This might belong in the weather thread, the car parking thread or any number of others.

But a mention about the freight area car park. It has been neglected by the airport to attempt any snow clearing and it is now subsequently an ice rink. On Sunday, staff turned up facing lengthy delays, to then end up diverting and getting taxis back. On arrival back at base it took some people almost 2 hours to dig themselves out the car park. I know one colleague who was at work for almost 18 hours in the end.

The airport of course will prioritise clearing public walk ways, public car parks and importantly the runway and apron area. But this happens every time it snows. Where is the importance of its own staff? Staff that have to get in to handle all the passengers they are clearing the footpaths for?!!!

The hardest part of the journey to work this week has been navigating the car park. It’s outright dangerous, and puts people off wanting to turn up. Why go to the bother of digging your car off the drive to face that on arrival and potentially either breaking a bone or damaging your car.

The freight car park is used mostly by Jet2 staff, and the MD of the airline along with a lot of ramp agent ground staff were out shovelling some areas yesterday, even though it’s the job of the airport.

I’m aware this is a bit of a rant and we have had an extraordinary amount of snow, but it is worth highlighting to the community on here the difficulties faced recently. But also the determination of the staff alike, to get in and get these 18 hour shifts done!

Surely then, someone from Jet2 should be taking this up with LBA management?

There's no doubting the severity of the snowfall or that it's now frozen solid and to be fair, LBA have a huge area to try and clear for public and staff alike, which is very difficult indeed when littered with cars. But at the very least some should be cleared and gritted and if necessary the airport should employ contractors to do it if they dont have the capacity themselves.

However, the airport isn't unique. Yesterday I visited the Costa Coffee near the airport (next to Hawthorn Farm Inn). The car park was thick with snow, generally inaccessible and the path into the place uncleared and covered in rutted frozen snow and ice. Downright dangerous. Then visited my regular pub in Bramhope and the car park was the same. In fact a van was stuck in the snow as we arrived. I'm expecting similar today when visiting the supermarket. Businesses generally just dont have the equipment or manpower to clear large areas and if they do, the mounds of snow that generates takes far longer to melt, prolonging the problems. Not sure what the answer is when there is a limited workforce who all have their 'day jobs' to do, other than employ contractors who are probably not available anyway due to being otherwise employed.

It's all rather typical of the UK in that these snow events, which happen most years, cause chaos here whilst other countries seem far better prepared.

During my time at LBA the airport had several large snow events.
The airport, like all airports has a Snowplan. Runways and manoevering areas followed by public access are always first. Staff areas are always last.

The freight area specifically was always the last area to be cleared when I was there too. I maybe wrong but I don't believe any airport staff park in that area now so it might be that they have overlooked the freight car park.

It might be worth asking the Jet2 base manager to have a word with the airport Terminal Officer to establish when the car park is going to be cleared? Maybe they're waiting for the snow to melt like the ground in front of the ILS transmitter?

Is the ILS still u/s?

The former freight area is used purely for Jet2 staff parking. Staff employed by the airport and other companies have to park at the start of the long stay, a significant distance away.
This has also been "neglected/poorly serviced".

Coupled with the fact the car park bus was not running, the walking distance, on poor surfaces, is vast compared to the transition from the Jet2 car park to the gate house.

I believe there has been significant staffing issues overs the poor weather days where people have said they cant get in to work etc

Given those issues, It would be sensible for Jet2 to help find a solution to clear it given they demand their own car park. In my own opinion of course.

@LBAYORKIE The ILS is back in service.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
