Thanks for following up. Very interesting and if the council page is wrong then quite a major mess up for them to be publicly stating mistruths about the airport. Especially as it forms part of the planning consultation for the development of the city.
Well, whether the council is wrong, or the airport is wrong, I guess we will find out eventually. LBA have stated their view after talking to the council, and the guy from Planning previously confirmed there was no passenger limit. We were told any further planning application related to any further works required (that required approval) at the airport to enable growth beyond 5m. Nothing to do with further S106 liabilities. But who knows? It's hard to believe anything anyone says any more.

Anyone see Blue Sky live today, the Ryanair max to Alicante took it from Delta
I don't get it/agree with it. You will still use the same amount of runway and get airborne earlier?
Plus passengers may get anxious when when they are still on runway over the tunnel!
How much fuel and time is a back track going to make?
Use the full runway? It's not like we have 10000 ft
If it went wrong you'd have extra concrete to stop or get airborne
Only takes a wrong digit in FMC and a distraction or a pilot that can't add up! And then what?

From what I understand FR have no take off selection for Delta, just like we don’t at LS.
What you can do with our tool is select a shortened runway, and manually enter the runway length. If it gives a solution, then its safe to do! (It’ll likely give a higher thrust selection than full length of course). I’m not sure if this is what they’ve done here, or inadvertently done it (were they a foreign based crew does anyone know?)

Jet2 don’t allow it, not sure on Ryanair. I’ll be surprised if ATC didn’t question it.

(Sorry @Aviador I missed the tag!)

To change the topic…
G-GDFG went down to BHX yesterday to cover a sick aircraft. Once it landed back at BHX at 22:08, it wasn’t allowed to position back to Leeds due noise!

CLEUD nonsense!

The airport seem to be showing engineering firm Hoare Lea around the area where the pier is to be extended in the somewhat near future (stands 11-18)
Any progress on the two new stands? I know there was drainage to sort out and, no doubt, electrical connections too, but I would have expected them to be getting close to pouring concrete by now.

Yeah there looks to be minimal earthworks left. Havent had a close-up look in a while but appears as though it'll soon be ready for a sub-base and pouring.

I reported 3 weeks ago that the batching plant manager said they were about to start pouring. So if he was correct they should have already started.

Posted 11th July on Aprons, taxiways and runways thread.

'I was up at the construction site earlier today. I spoke to one of the workers who told me they hadnt started mixing concrete yet, but would be doing so in the next couple of days. Makes me think all the groundworks are finished'

He had just arrived at LBA earlier in the week. Apparently batch plant managers are only called in immediately before the plant goes into production.

He said they had a batch plant at Manchester airport which had been there 20 years. I assume 'ours' will also be around for several years.

Not sure if that's official policy but questionable in my view given the potential consequences.

ATC do not have or involve themselves in the weight and performance calculations for each aircraft. It is the pilots responsibility to ensure they have done their calculations and it is not abnormal for an aircraft to use a reduced length take off roll.

If an aircraft asks for clarification on the take of run/distance available then ATC would clarify the figures but not question a request for an intersection departure.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
