I’ve got plenty of local tv footage / reports from both Look North and Calendar including:

· BA and Wardair 747 arrivals back in 84
· British Airtours Tristar that popped over the edge of 14 in 85
· The Air France Concorde arrival
· British Midland's switch from Viscount to DC-9
· A 30 minute documentary filmed in late 84/85 made by the BBC highlighting what the airport is like on a "day to day" basis now that the 747’s have gone.

Obviously there are plenty of shots of LBA and ATC. Can this footage be used to assist “Oldendays” without infringing any copyright issues?

I'm no legal guru but from what I gather, the use of clips rather than an entire programme is regarded as "fair use" according to a number of sources on Google. Anything uploaded as an attachment would be private to members only if that helps.

jason 1-11. I'd be happy for you to post anything you've got, if you're happy with the legal angle. I remember the Look North documentary. It was called 'Chocks Away'.

I'll go for the monitor displaying the ATIS broadcast and the wind speed/direction display.

I did think about the IRVR display and the Land/Continue/Go around request panel but I am fairly sure they have been updated since this picture.

The chairs will have been binned years ago. The headsets, Racal Astrolite, went in 2005. A pity really - they were expensive but tough and Made In England. The latter day Plantronics and Sennheiser headsets are not so good (and that's being polite)!

Could it be that those plastic strips that have the flights on that are used and removed and wiped clean once they've finished dealing with that aircraft?

Not the strip holders. Some of those old ones are kicking around in our sim, but we have newer ones in the tower.

You're close, though...

The Metcom monitor is a modern LCD display these days, although it does use a version of the same software. Not what I was thinking of, though.

As for the IRVR display, I can't even identify one in that photo! Suffice to say, our current one isn't there, and neither are the current landing clearance buttons.

the chairs and the headsets? :)

Nope, we go through chairs pretty quickly! The headsets, as mentioned, are modern Sennheiser models (which I rather like, having used Astrolites in the past).

The only other stuff I can see is the digital clock (a previous Airport Director didn't like digital clocks apparently), an RT loudspeaker with selector switches and a bank of green and red lights above the ATIS display. I don't know what these were/are for.

Well, you got one of them. The LED clocks are still with us. The other item is the single width strip bay at the bottom of the photo. We brought that out of retirement to hold some of the wipe-clean strips we use to indicate equipment availability and various other things.

One out of two ain't bad radar but I would never have spotted the strip bays. I tend to focus on radar and comms gear - such is my technical interest in ATC.

If you haven't already, take a look at the WordPress ATChistory site. There's a couple of old LBA Tower pictures there, one of which is nudging fifty years old. You figure out which one !

Reading the EGNM Notams today, I notice that for a one month trial period, aircrew are requested to pass their estimated off-blocks time to Delivery upon first contact. I imagine this is to assist ADC and Airport Ops in allocating stands for inbounds and aircraft being towed from remote stands.

I know its been mentioned a few times now, But good news is that Leeds/Bradford Airports Airspace change consultation is now underway.

Airspace change consultation gets underway at LBA
PRESS RELEASE: Issued: Friday 7th July 2017

A public consultation about proposed changes to the airspace around Leeds Bradford Airport has commenced.

The consultation outlines potential amendments to aircraft arriving and departing LBA. Whilst departure routes will not change, aircraft will be able to climb earlier; reducing disruption to those under the flight paths.

Arrival routes will adapt slightly with aircraft flying fewer miles; again reducing the disruption to local communities. The new procedures will, however, require additional airspace to ensure aircraft operate with greater efficiency and provide sufficient spacing between arriving and departing aircraft.

Al Siddoway, head of Air Traffic Control at LBA, said:
“These proposed amendments are complementing the benefits being proposed as part of a consultation that is currently taking place separately by government on UK Airspace Policy. They provide a range of environmental benefits including reduced noise impact on local communities, reduced CO2 emissions and fuel savings.

“Delivering more accurate aircraft routes would meet the requirements of both national and regional policies, and directly contribute towards the airport’s objectives within its recently published Masterplan: Route to 2030.”
LBA has worked closely with local aviation organisations and stakeholders in developing these proposals.

Al added: “Considerable time and effort has been invested in developing these procedures to reduce impact on local communities. We would encourage interested parties to participate in this consultation process.”

To read the consultation document and respond, visit http://www.leedsbradfordairport.co.uk/about-the-airport/airspace-change-proposal-consultation before the deadline of 29th September 2017

Nothing mentioned about the amended SIDs off 32, so there is a right turn rather than left? Has this option been shelved?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
